The Grand Touring trim has 20-inch wheels, keyless ignition, keyless entry, many interior upgrades, Xenon headlights, and fog lights. Sliding second-row seats and fold-down third-row seats are standard on all CX-9 trims for 2010. Both the second- and third-row seats can fold flat, resulting in a maximum of 101 cubic feet of cargo space, according to Mazda. Maximum towing capacity for the CX-9 is 3500 pounds.

The standard power plant in the 2010 Mazda CX-9 is a 273-horsepower, 3.7-liter V-6 engine, coupeed with a 6-speed automatic transmission with manual shift control. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) awarded the CX-9 \"Good\" ratings in its frontal-offset, side-impact, and rear-impact crash tests.
