Overview

What's New for 2015:
  • Lincoln makes no changes to the MKX in advance of a redesign for 2016

Introduction
The 2015 Lincoln MKX is a midsize, 5-passenger, luxury crossover SUV designed to compete against the Audi Q5, BMW X3, Cadillac SRX, Infiniti QX70, Lexus RX 350, and Mercedes-Benz ML 350.

Models and Features
When selecting a 2015 MKX, buyers first choose between front-wheel (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD), then pick standard, Premium, or Elite equipment packages. Additionally, Lincoln provides several options for the MKX.

The Premium package adds adaptive HID headlights and 18-in. polished aluminum wheels, along with rain-sensing wipers, turn signal indicators on the side mirrors, and a reversing camera. Inside, the cabin features ambient lighting, premium perforated leather with contrast piping, heated power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, and heated rear seats. A blind-spot information system with cross-traffic alert is also included in the Premium package.

Upgrade to Elite equipment and buyers receive the Premium package plus a panoramic sunroof, voice-activated navigation system, and a premium 14-speaker sound system with HD Radio.

Under the Hood
Every 2015 Lincoln MKX is equipped with a 3.7-liter V-6 engine generating 305 horsepower. A 6-speed automatic transmission is standard and features paddle shifters for manual control over gear changes. Front-wheel drive is standard, with AWD optional.

Fuel Economy
The EPA calculates that the 2015 Lincoln MKX will get 18 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway when equipped with FWD. Choose the AWD version and those numbers dip to 17 mpg city/23 mpg highway.

Safety and Technology
Lincoln installs its MyKey technology in every 2015 MKX, which allows an owner with a young driver in the house to program certain vehicle features associated with seat belt use, vehicle speed, and stereo volume. The company's Sync Bluetooth system includes 911 Assist, which springs into action if the MKX's air bags deploy and a paired smartphone is aboard the vehicle at the time. The 911 Assist system automatically dials out to an emergency operator, who then summons emergency rescue personnel and directs them to the SUV's exact location.

Heated and ventilated front seats, a media hub with dual USB ports and audio/video input jacks, and a MyLincoln Touch infotainment system are standard in every 2015 MKX, the latter equipping the vehicle with an 8-in. color touch screen. Buyers can opt for a navigation system and a premium sound system. A rear entertainment system is also available, complete with dual headrest-mounted screens.

Safety-related options include a reversing camera, adaptive headlights, blind-spot information system with cross-traffic alert, and an adaptive cruise control system with collision warning and brake support.
