Exterior Features
Land Rover says the Range Rover's new styling represents a \"fresh new interpretation of Range Rover design cues,\" and that this is the most aerodynamic Range Rover ever built. The new SUV offers a 2-piece clamshell-style tailgate.

The Range Rover is offered in standard, HSE, Supercharged, and Autobiography trim levels. Standard equipment includes 19-inch aluminum wheels, front and rear LED lighting, xenon headlights with power washers, rain-sensing wipers, heated wiper rest grid, and front and rear park-assist sensors.

Interior Features
The new Range Rover can carry 32.1 cubic feet of cargo behind the rear seat, and up to 71.7 cubic feet with the rear seat folded.

Standard equipment includes leather seats, heated front seats, heated steering wheel, triple-zone automatic climate control, and a choice between black lacquer and wood trim. Bluetooth connectivity with music streaming, 380-watt sound system with HD Radio and satellite radio, and an 8-inch in-dash touch screen with voice control and a navigation system are also standard.

Optional Features
According to Land Rover, \"the new Range Rover can be extensively tailored with an indulgent choice of colors, finishes and special details.\"

The Range Rover HSE trim adds premium leather and 20-inch wheels, while the Range Rover Supercharged includes a more powerful engine, 21-inch wheels, greater front seat adjustment, and heated rear seats.

Options, depending on the trim selected, include aluminum wheels ranging in size from 20 to 22 inches, active locking rear differential, premium paint, panoramic glass sunroof, 825-watt premium surround-sound audio system, and a rear-seat entertainment system. Power soft door closing and power-folding exterior mirrors are optional, as well as a park-assist system, heated wood-and-leather steering wheel, ventilated and massaging front seats, 4-zone climate control system, and a Tow package.

The Range Rover Autobiography, which is significantly more expensive than other trims, is offered in a greater variety of colors, and includes premium semi-aniline leather and a leather headliner. Executive-class individual rear seating, rear cooler compartment, heated wood-and-leather steering wheel, and a 1,700-watt Meridian Signature Reference audio system are the only options for this trim.

Under the Hood
The 2013 Land Rover Range Rover is equipped with a 375-horsepower, 5.0-liter V-8 engine paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and a full-time 4-wheel-drive system with a 2-speed transfer case.

A supercharged version of that power plant puts out 510 horsepower. Land Rover claims that the 2013 Range Rover Supercharged will accelerate to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds, compared to 5.9 seconds for the previous-generation model. Maximum towing capacity is 7,716 pounds for both engines.

The new Range Rover is equipped with new, fully automatic Terrain Response 2 technology, which assesses current driving conditions and automatically adjusts the vehicle's drivetrain features accordingly. Electric steering is also standard.

The Range Rover's new lightweight air suspension provides greater wheel travel and wheel articulation than before, and features four different ride heights plus automatic load leveling. Adaptive Dynamics continuously variable damping and Dynamic Response active lean control are available for the Range Rover.

Maximum ground clearance measures 11.63 inches, and the new Range Rover also provides a 7.8-inch improvement in wading depth, making it capable of traversing standing water that is 35.4 inches deep. In terms of approach, breakover, and departure angles, when placed in Off-Road Mode, the Range Rover's measurements are 34.7 degrees, 28.3 degrees, and 29.6 degrees, respectively.

Fuel Economy
As this overview is written, the EPA has not established official fuel-economy estimates for the redesigned Range Rover. Land Rover provides no internal estimates for fuel economy.

Every 2013 Land Rover Range Rover is equipped with 6 air bags, traction and stability control system, roll stability control, gradient acceleration control, and cornering brake control.

Land Rover offers several safety technologies for the new 2013 Range Rover. An optional adaptive cruise control system includes queue assist technology that brings the SUV to a complete stop in traffic without driver intervention. Additionally, the Range Rover can be equipped with adaptive headlights, blind-spot monitoring system, surround view camera system with reverse traffic detection and trailer hitch guidance features, and Intelligent Emergency Braking with Advanced Emergency Brake Assist.

As this overview is written, neither the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has performed crash tests on the new 2013 Range Rover SUV.
