What's New for 2015:
  • UVO eServices system
  • Improved fuel economy for 4-cylinder engine
  • Subtle change to grille and lower front air intake designs
  • Navigation available separately from UVO and the premium audio system

The 2015 Kia Sorento is a midsize crossover SUV that can carry up to 7 passengers in 3 rows of seats. It competes against numerous models including the Dodge Journey, Ford Explorer, Honda Pilot, Hyundai Santa Fe, Mazda CX-9, Nissan Pathfinder, and Toyota Highlander.

Models and Features
Kia offers the 2015 Sorento in LX, EX, SX, and SX Limited trim levels. Add the optional V-6 engine to the Sorento LX and the SUV also includes acoustic windshield glass, roof rails, and a third-row seat.

Choose the Sorento EX for a standard V-6 engine, larger 18-in. aluminum wheels, automatic headlights, fog lights, LED running lights, illuminated door handles, rear spoiler, and Kia's Flex Steer steering with Normal, Comfort, and Sport modes.

Additionally, the Sorento EX is equipped with an 8-way power driver's seat, 4-way power front passenger's seat, leather upholstery, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, floor mats, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear-seat air conditioning, and heated front seats. Kia's UVO eServices infotainment technology is also standard for this version of the Sorento, along with a reversing camera, rear park-assist sensors, passive keyless entry with push-button ignition, Supervision gauges with a 7-in. information display in the center, auto-dimming rearview mirror with a compass, 115-volt power inverter, upgraded interior lighting, and manual sunshades for the second-row seat.

Upgrading to the Sorento SX adds 19-in. aluminum wheels, stainless steel front and rear accent panels, body-color trim, chrome exhaust outlet, chrome roof rails, power-folding exterior mirrors, power rear liftgate with a programmable height adjustment, and LED taillights. The interior is upgraded with ventilated front seats, memory for the driver's settings, Infinity surround-sound audio system with HD Radio, navigation system with real-time traffic and a larger 8-in. display screen, blind-spot detection system, panoramic sunroof, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror with a universal garage door opener.

At the top of the lineup, the Sorento SX Limited, also called the SX-L, features auto-leveling HID headlights, chrome wheels, upgraded premium leather upholstery, heated rear seats, and a heated leather-and-wood steering wheel.

Under the Hood
A 191-horsepower, 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine is standard equipment for the Sorento LX. A 6-speed automatic transmission powers the front wheels, and all-wheel drive (AWD) is an option. The AWD system includes a locking center differential and Torque Vectoring Cornering Control.

Every other version of the 2015 Kia Sorento includes a 290-horsepower, 3.3-liter V-6 engine. This engine features the same transmission and can be upgraded with the same AWD system.

Fuel Economy
The Sorento's V-6 engine is nearly as fuel-efficient as the standard 4-cylinder engine, which is why most versions of this SUV include it as standard equipment. The 4-cylinder's EPA fuel-economy ratings range from 19 mpg in the city with AWD to 27 mpg on the highway with FWD. Contrast that with the V-6 engine, which gets 18 mpg in the city with AWD and 25 mpg on the highway with FWD.

Safety and Technology
Kia installs rear park-assist sensors, a reversing camera, and a blind-spot monitoring system in all versions of the Sorento except for the LX. The UVO eServices system enhances safety with a 911 Connect system that automatically activates following a collision in order to speed rescuers to the scene of the accident. It also includes a Parking Minder feature that can help you to find the Sorento in a crowded parking lot or unfamiliar city.

In addition to these features, the Sorento is available with an Infinity surround-sound audio system with HD Radio, as well as a navigation system with real-time traffic and a larger 8-in. touch-screen display.
