Interior Features
The 2012 Kia Sorento, offered in four different trim levels, seats up to 7 passengers when equipped with the optional third-row seating. Base Sorento models feature air conditioning, full power accessories, cruise control, Bluetooth phone connectivity, iPod adapter, and AUX input jack. Higher trim levels feature leather upholstery, body-colored exterior mirrors, heated front seats, rearview camera, keyless entry/ignition, and other premium features.

Optional Features

Under the Hood
Kia Sorento models are fitted with one of two different engines. The standard power plant is a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder rated at 175 horsepower. While higher trim levels are fitted with the same 2.4-liter 4-cylinder, the engine is equipped with direct injection and rated at 191 horsepower. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard on lower trim levels, with a 6-speed automatic optional, which is standard on higher trims levels. Front-wheel drive is standard, with all-wheel drive optional.

EPA fuel-economy figures for the 2012 Kia Sorento are:

  • Kia Sorento with 2.4-liter engine and manual transmission: 20/27 mpg (city/highway)

In government crash tests, the 2012 Kia Sorento received an overall rating of 4 (out of 5) stars, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). In tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Sorento received a \"Good\" rating-the Institute's highest-for frontal-offset and side-impact crash protection.
