What Changed for 2009:
  • Minor changes for the 2009 model year
  • New audio system with MP3 and satellite radio capabilities
  • Larger navigation display
The Amanti, the flagship Kia sedan, received significant upgrades for 2007, including revamped styling inside and out, a new 3.8-liter V-6 engine under the hood, and an improved suspension. The Amanti is a close relative of the Hyundai Azera, which made its debut in 2006. On its exterior, the Amanti features a large egg-crate grille and plentiful chrome accents. Inside, the center stack flows smoothly into the dashboard. The 15.9-cubic-foot trunk is large enough to hold four golf bags, Kia says. For 2009, Kia has made only minor changes to the audio and navigation systems on its largest sedan.

The 2009 Kia Amanti is covered by a 5-year/60,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty with 5-year/60,000-mile roadside assistance and 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain coverage.

Model Lineup
The 2009 Kia Amanti is sold as one trim level, without a letter designation. Bright door-sill plates, power-adjustable front seats (8-way for the driver and 4-way for the passenger), and a 6-speaker AM/FM/CD stereo are found on all Amantis. Wood trim, a sunroof, power windows and locks, and dual-zone air conditioning are also among the Amanti's standard features, as are clear-lens halogen headlights, front projection fog lights and 16-inch, 9-spoke alloy wheels.

Kia fitted the 2009 Amanti with an aluminum, 3.8-liter V-6 engine and 5-speed automatic transmission that is also used in the Hyundai Azera. Its 264 hp and 260 lb.-ft. of torque are an increase of 32 percent over the previous model, Kia says. The Amanti is based on a lighter platform than the previous model, which reduced its weight by 251 pounds. In EPA testing, the 2009 Kia Amanti earned fuel economy ratings of 17 mpg city and 24 mpg highway.

Standard safety features on the 2009 Kia Amanti include front air bags, seat-mounted air bags for both front and rear seats, full-length side curtain air bags, anti-lock brakes, and a tire-pressure-monitoring system that was improved for 2008. The optional electronic stability control system comes bundled with traction control and brake assist.

In tests of the 2007-2008 model, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave the Amanti a \"Good\" rating for both frontal offset and side-impact crash tests. The Kia Amanti has not been crash tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The Premium package on the 2009 Kia Amanti comes with either black or aluminum trim, a Supervision meter cluster, 17-inch wheels and tires, and power-adjustable pedals. The leather package replaces the standard Moquette cloth seats. For 2009, Kia upgraded the navigation screen to a 5.5-inch display and relocated the trip computer to the instrument cluster. A new audio system features Sirius satellite radio, MP3 capabilities, and AUX and USB inputs on the center console.
