Exterior Features
The 2013 Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimitedan extended-length model with 4 doors and 5-passenger seating capacityare sold in Sport, Sahara, Moab Special Edition, and Rubicon trim levels.

Standard equipment for the Wrangler Sport includes 16-inch painted steel wheels, 225/75 on/off-road tires, full-size spare tire, skid plates, removable metal doors, manual swing-away side mirrors, fold-down windshield, dual-nozzle windshield washers, tow hooks, fog lights, and a convertible top with a sunroof feature.

Interior Features
The 2013 Jeep Wrangler Sport is equipped with carpeting, floor mats, cloth seats, and a full-length floor console with locking storage. The overhead sport bar is padded and equipped with speakers and a dome light, the rear bench seat folds or can be removed, the cargo area has tie-down loops, and there is a secure underfloor storage compartment in the back. Additionally, the Wrangler Sport is equipped with a tilt steering wheel, cruise control, auto-dimming rearview mirror with map lights, exterior temperature display, and a compass. A stereo with a CD/MP3 player, satellite radio, and auxiliary audio input jack is also standard.

Optional Features

The Wrangler Sahara trim is equipped with 18-inch aluminum wheels, automatic headlights, power heated side mirrors, body-color fender flares, body-color top, dark tinted rear windows, tubular side steps, and silver bumper trim. The interior is upgraded with power windows, power door locks, remote keyless entry, premium sound system, 115-volt power outlet, and silver accent trim.

The Wrangler Moab Special Edition includes 17-inch aluminum wheels (shared with the Rubicon), 245/75 Goodyear Silent Armor tires with Kevlar reinforcement, Trak-Lok anti-spin rear differential, unique power-dome hood design, winch-ready off-road bumpers, rock rail protection, and taillight guards. Inside, the Moab Special Edition has leather seats and special Iron Gray trim.

The Wrangler Rubicon is based on the Sport trim, adding Dana 44 front and rear heavy-duty axles, Tru-Lock front and rear electronic locking differentials, 4.10 axle ratio, and an electronic front sway bar disconnect system for added wheel articulation. Satin Carbon 17-inch aluminum wheels equipped with light-truck 255/75 Mud Terrain tires are standard on this trim, as well as heavy-duty rock rail protection. The Rubicon's interior offers air conditioning, premium sound system, and a 115-volt power outlet.

All trims can be equipped with seat-mounted side-impact air bags, Uconnect Bluetooth connectivity, 3-piece modular hardtop, engine block heater, and a Trailer Tow package that adds trailer sway control, receiver hitch, and a 4-pin connector.

Additional options for the Wrangler Sport include air conditioning, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a set of 17-inch alloy wheels. This trim can also be outfitted with tubular side steps, 115-volt power outlet, and a premium sound system.

Sport and Rubicon trims can be optioned with half-metal doors and a Power Convenience package including power windows, power heated side mirrors, and power door locks with remote keyless entry.

Sport, Sahara and Moab Special Edition trims can be upgraded from a 3.21 axle ratio to a 3.73 axle ratio and can be equipped with a Rock-Trac heavy-duty transfer case. The remaining options offered for the Sahara and the Rubicon trims: automatic climate control, Uconnect navigation system, two-tone leather upholstery, heated front seats, and remote engine starting.

Under the Hood
Every 2013 Jeep Wrangler is equipped with a 3.6-liter V-6 engine generating 285 horsepower at 6,400 rpm and 260 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,800 rpm. A 6-speed manual gearbox is standard, with a 5-speed automatic transmission available as an option. Jeep says the automatic provides a lower first-gear ratio, which translates into a lower overall crawl ratio for improved off-road capability.

Dana 30 front and Dana 44 rear axles are standard on Sport, Sahara and Moab Special Edition trims, along with a Command-Trac part-time 2-speed transfer case. A Trac-Lok limited-slip rear differential offers greater traction in mud, sand and snow, and is optional on Sport and Sahara but standard on the Moab Special Edition. The Wrangler Sport and Sahara come standard with a 3.21 axle ratio, with a 3.73 ratio available as an option. When equipped with the manual transmission and the 3.73 axle ratio, the Wrangler offers a 45:1 crawl ratio.

The Wrangler Rubicon is outfitted with 4.10 gearing, and Dana 44 axles front and rear. A Rock-Trac 2-speed transfer case equipped with a 2.72:1 low-range gear ratio is also standard, along with electronic front and rear locking differentials, disconnecting front sway bar, and 32-inch light-truck tires.

Fuel Economy
EPA fuel-economy estimates for the 2013 Jeep Wrangler are:
  • Wrangler with manual transmission: 17/21/18 mpg (city/highway/combined)
  • Wrangler Unlimited with manual transmission: 16/21/18 mpg
  • Wrangler with automatic transmission: 17/21/18 mpg
  • Wrangler Unlimited with automatic transmission: 16/20/18 mpg

Safety
The 2013 Wrangler is equipped with driver and front passenger frontal-impact air bags. Seat-mounted side-impact air bags are optional. Additionally, the Wrangler includes traction control, stability control with roll mitigation technology, hill-start assist, and 4-wheel-disc anti-lock brakes with on- and off-road calibration and brake assist. The Trailer Tow package option includes a trailer sway control system.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the 2013 Wrangler SUV receives 3 (out of 5) stars for rollover resistance. As this overview is written, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has not performed crash tests on the 2013 Wrangler.
