Exterior Features
The left and right side of the 2013 Hyundai Veloster are different. There's a third door on the right side of the car, which is designed to provide easier access to the Veloster's rear seat. Additionally, the Veloster comes standard with heated power side mirrors, square center-mounted exhaust outlets, and a set of 17-inch aluminum wheels. Larger 18-inch wheels, larger round exhaust outlets, and unique styling elements punctuated by fog lights and LED taillights serve to distinguish the Veloster Turbo.

Interior Features
The Veloster is a 4-passenger vehicle with a hatch that can hold 15.5 cubic feet of cargo. Air conditioning, power door locks with remote keyless entry, power windows, tilt/telescoping steering wheel, Bluetooth, and a stereo with satellite radio, USB port, iPod connection and an auxiliary audio input jack come standard on the Veloster. Blue Link telematics is also standard, offering smartphone integration and a variety of information, entertainment and emergency services.

Optional Features
The Veloster Turbo adds leather, heated front seats, Dimension premium sound system, Proximity Key entry with push-button ignition, alloy pedals, electroluminescent gauges, and unique 18-inch wheels. A panoramic glass sunroof, navigation system, and a matte gray paint job are also available.

Under the Hood
The 2013 Veloster is equipped with a 1.6-liter, direct-injected 4-cylinder engine making 138 horsepower with the standard 6-speed manual gearbox or 132 horsepower with the optional EcoShift 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, which includes paddle shifters and hill-start assist.

The Veloster Turbo is powered by a direct-injected, turbocharged, 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine generating 201 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 195 lb.-ft. of torque as low as 1,750 rpm. A 6-speed manual gearbox is standard. A 6-speed automatic transmission equipped with a manual shift gate and paddle shifters is optional.

Fuel Economy
EPA fuel-economy estimates for the 2013 Hyundai Veloster are:
  • Veloster with manual transmission: 28/40/32 mpg (city/highway/combined)
  • Veloster with DCT: 29/40/33 mpg
  • Veloster Turbo with manual transmission: 26/38/30 mpg
  • Veloster Turbo with automatic transmission: 25/34/29 mpg

Every Veloster is equipped with 6 air bags, 4-wheel-disc anti-lock brakes with brake assist, and a traction and stability control system. Hyundai also installs a Blue Link communication system with SOS Emergency Assist into every Veloster, and includes a free subscription for a limited time. Blue Link also offers vehicle speed and geo-fencing limit setting, which provides text-message alerts when those speeds and boundaries are exceeded. A reversing camera and rear parking sensors are optional on the Veloster.
