The 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe is an extended-length, 3-row, 7-passenger crossover SUV. (The shorter, 5-passenger 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport is reviewed separately.) Its main competitors include the Dodge Durango, Ford Explorer, Honda Pilot, Nissan Pathfinder, and Toyota Highlander. It's available with front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD).

Models and Features
The 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe is sold in GLS and Limited trim levels. Standard features on the base GLS version include 18-in. alloy wheels, roof rails, cruise control, full power accessories, rear spoiler, air conditioning, leather-wrapped steering wheel, cloth upholstery, heated front seats, power-adjustable driver's seat, 40/20/40 split-folding second-row seats, 50/50 split fold-flat third-row seats, 6-speaker audio system, HD Radio, and 4.3-in. touch-screen display. The Santa Fe Limited adds beige leather upholstery, second-row captain's chairs, 19-in. wheels, keyless entry and ignition, power liftgate with hands-free function, dual-zone automatic climate control, power-adjustable front passenger seat, rear window shades, blind-spot detection system with lane-change assist and rear cross-traffic alert, and other upgrades. Cargo volume behind the third row of seats is 13.5 cu. ft.; with those seats folded, it increases to 40.9 cu. ft. Total cargo volume behind the front row of seats comes to 80.0 cu. ft.

Options and Packages
The optional Premium package adds to the GLS trim all of the Limited's upgrades except for the second-row captain's chairs. The Ultimate option package (available on both the GLS and Limited) adds a navigation system with 8-in. touch screen, 10-speaker premium sound system, panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats, heated steering wheel, and rear park-assist sensors. With the Limited trim, the Ultimate package adds a premium 12-speaker sound system, xenon headlights, and LED taillights.

Optional accessories include a first aid kit, cargo net, wheel locks, bumper appliqu�, carpeted cargo mat, cargo tray, mud guards, carpeted floor mats, cargo cover with screen, all-weather floor mats, roof rack cross rails, and a tow hitch.

Under the Hood
The 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe features a 290-horsepower, 3.3-liter V-6 engine, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission with Shiftronic manual gear selection, with FWD standard. The optional AWD system features Active Cornering Control, torque vectoring, and torque braking control.

Fuel Economy
According to the EPA, the 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe with FWD returns 18 mpg city, 25 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined; with AWD, the numbers are 18/24/20 mpg.

Safety Ratings and Technology
In addition to a comprehensive list of standard safety features, the Santa Fe is equipped with a driver's knee air bag and a Blue Link telematics system with 3 free years of automatic collision notification and SOS Emergency Service. Rear cross-traffic alert, lane-change assist, and a blind-spot detection system are standard for the Santa Fe Limited, and optional for the GLS. Rear park-assist sensors are optional for all 2015 Santa Fe SUVs.

As this overview is written, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has not published crash-test results for the 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe. However, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has given the 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe its highest rating, \"Good,\" on all crash tests, including moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraints and seats.
