What's New for 2013:
- Honda makes no changes to the CR-V for 2013
The 2013 Honda CR-V is a 4-door, 5-passenger crossover SUV offered with front- or all-wheel drive (FWD or AWD) and available in LX, EX and EX-L trim levels. Standard equipment for the CR-V LX includes 16-inch steel wheels painted silver, power side mirrors, and a driver's side mirror with \"expanded view\" glass designed to help reveal other cars in the SUV's left-side blind spot.
The 2013 Honda CR-V offers a long list of standard equipment. Air conditioning, tilt/telescoping steering wheel, cruise control, power windows, and power door locks with remote keyless entry are included in the base price. Additionally, the CR-V is equipped with an information display that owners can configure to display specific data, as well as a trip computer, compass, outside temperature indicator, and auto-off headlights.
Floor mats are also standard and the driver's seat offers a manual height adjuster, the 60/40-split folding rear seat features an Easy Fold design, and the trunk is equipped with a cargo light. The CR-V provides 37.2 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seat. Folding the rear seat down creates 70.9 cubic feet of space.
The CR-V also offers a standard intelligent multi-information display as part of the 160-watt audio system, which includes Bluetooth hands-free calling and music streaming, full iPhone compatibility, SMS text messaging capability that reads incoming messages over the speakers, and Pandora Internet radio. The standard multi-view reversing camera displays what's behind the CR-V.
The 2013 Honda CR-V EX is equipped with 17-inch aluminum wheels, fog lights, dark tinted rear privacy glass, and body-color exterior trim. Inside, the EX trim offers an upgraded sound system, power sunroof, variable intermittent wipers, illuminated visor vanity mirrors, front seatback storage pockets, and a cargo cover.
The Honda CR-V EX-L is equipped with dual-zone automatic climate control, premium audio system with satellite radio, leather upholstery, power driver's seat, heated front seats, heated side mirrors, and automatic headlights. The EX-L trim can be optioned with a choice of a navigation system or a rear-seat DVD entertainment system. These features are not available in combination with one another.
Under the Hood
A 185-horsepower, 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine is standard for all 2013 Honda CR-Vs. A 5-speed automatic transmission delivers the power to the front wheels. A real-time all-wheel-drive system is optional. Standard Eco Assist technology, activated by the \"ECON\" button on the dashboard, calibrates the powertrain to encourage more efficient driving.
As this overview is written, the EPA has not officially rated the 2013 Honda CR-V's fuel economy.
Honda designs its vehicles using Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) construction, an approach intended to make the brand's cars, trucks, SUVs, and minivans crash-compatible with a greater variety of vehicles, and to deflect crash energy away from the cabin if a collision does occur. Additionally, the 2013 CR-V offers 6 air bags, 4-wheel-disc anti-lock brakes with brake assist, traction and stability control, whiplash-reducing front-seat design, and a reversing camera.
In crash tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the 2013 Honda CR-V received 5 (out of 5) stars for overall crash protection. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has not tested the 2013 CR-V, but the structurally identical 2012 model was named a \"Top Safety Pick\" by the Institute.
