  • Performance-oriented Taurus SHO has standard 20-in. wheels
  • Three new paint colors debut: Caribou, Magnetic, Bronze Fire

The 2015 Ford Taurus is a full-size sedan, last restyled for the 2013 model year. It competes with the Buick LaCrosse, Chevrolet Impala, Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, Hyundai Azera, Kia Cadenza, Nissan Maxima, and Toyota Avalon.

Models and Features
Four versions of the 2015 Taurus are on sale. The SE is the base model, while the SEL upgrades the car with dual-zone automatic climate control, auto-dimming rearview mirror, exterior-temperature display, satellite radio, and upgraded cabin trim. The Taurus SEL also includes bigger 18-in. aluminum wheels, heated side mirrors, and a remote engine-starting system.

The Taurus Limited features leather seats, including 10-way power adjustment as well as heating and ventilation for the driver and front passenger. Additionally, the Limited is equipped with rear park-assist sensors, MyFord Touch infotainment system, keyless passive entry with push-button engine starting, power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, and power-adjustable pedals. Inside and out, trim is upgraded, and the Taurus Limited rides on 19-in. aluminum wheels.

The Taurus SHO (Super High Output) is a performance-tuned version of the Taurus, one equipped with a twin-turbocharged V-6 engine, all-wheel-drive (AWD) system, paddle shifters and a Sport driving mode for the transmission, a sport suspension, dual exhaust outlets, and 20-in. aluminum wheels. This version looks different thanks to special interior and exterior trim, and a set of HID headlights is standard.

Under the Hood
A 288-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6 engine is standard for the Taurus SE, SEL, and Limited. A 6-speed automatic transmission drives the car's front wheels, and an AWD system is optional.

For improved fuel economy, try the available turbocharged, 2.0-liter, EcoBoost 4-cylinder engine. It's offered only with front-wheel drive and requires premium fuel to make its maximum 240 horsepower.

The Taurus SHO is equipped with a twin-turbocharged, 3.5-liter, EcoBoost V-6 engine generating 365 horsepower. An AWD system is standard for this version, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Ford also recommends premium fuel for this engine choice.

Fuel Economy
The 2015 Taurus is EPA-rated to get 19 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway when equipped with its standard 3.5-liter V-6 engine. Choose the optional AWD system and those figures fall to 18 mpg and 26 mpg, respectively.

The optional 2.0-liter, EcoBoost 4-cylinder engine improves fuel economy to the tune of 22 mpg city/32 mpg highway, but the recommendation of premium fuel could offset fuel economy gains.

The performance-oriented Taurus SHO, which has standard AWD, is expected to get 17 mpg city/25 mpg highway.

Safety and Technology
Ford equips the 2015 Taurus with a number of standard and optional technologies designed to improve comfort, safety, connectivity, and driving performance.

Standard equipment includes torque-vectoring control, curve control, a reversing camera, and Sync Bluetooth connectivity including 911 Assist. In the event of an accident, the 911 Assist system can automatically help speed rescuers to the scene of a collision.

Available safety features for the 2015 Taurus include a blind-spot information system with cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping system that first alerts the driver and then helps to keep the Taurus within the intended lane of travel, and an adaptive cruise control system featuring a forward-collision warning with brake support system.

Ford's MyFord Touch infotainment and navigation system is available for the 2015 Taurus, along with keyless passive entry with push-button engine starting. Ford's unique Securicode technology essentially allows the owner to create a password in order to access the car's interior using a discrete touchpad on the doorframe.

In addition to these features, the Taurus can be fitted with multi-contour front seats featuring Active Motion massage, as well as an Active Park Assist system that steers the car into a parallel parking space while the driver operates the transmission and pedals.
