What's New for 2015:
  • New Plus option package available on SE and SXT
  • 17-in. wheels now standard

The 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan is a minivan that seats up to 7 people. The Dodge Caravan was introduced for the 1984 model year; the longer-wheelbase Grand Caravan debuted in 1987. The Grand Caravan was the only model offered after the 2007 model year, and will be discontinued after this year as Dodge repositions itself as a performance brand within the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles hierarchy. The Dodge Grand Caravan is twin to the slightly more luxurious Chrysler Town & Country, which will continue. The Dodge Grand Caravan competes primarily with the Honda Odyssey, Toyota Sienna, Nissan Quest, and the Kia Sedona.

Models and Features
Dodge has made few changes to the 2015 Grand Caravan, in what will likely be the model's last year of manufacture. A \"Plus\" package of options has been added to the two middle trim levels, and 17-in. wheels are now standard on all trims. The 2015 Grand Caravan is available in the base American Value Package (AVP), plus the SE, SXT, and R/T trim levels.

Dodge stresses affordability with the AVP trim level. Standard equipment on the base model includes dual-zone climate control; second-row seating that can be reclined, folded, or removed; power windows; power door locks; remote keyless entry; power exterior mirrors; cruise control; tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel; 4-speaker audio system; and LED taillights.

The Grand Caravan SE adds second-row captain's chairs with Super Stow 'N Go seating featuring in-floor storage bins, 3-zone automatic climate control, tinted rear privacy glass, 6-speaker sound system, floor console with cupholders, and body-color exterior trim.

The SXT adds power rear side windows, power-sliding side doors, power rear liftgate, power-venting third-row windows, heated exterior mirrors, Stow 'N Place roof rack, and a Super Center Console design. The Grand Caravan R/T includes a sportier suspension, alloy wheels with upgraded tires, monochromatic exterior appearance, remote ignition, automatic headlights, fog lights, black leather seats in the first two rows, leather-covered steering wheel, premium sound system, and other upgrades.

Options and Packages
The new Plus option package, available on SE and SXT trim levels, includes body-colored heated side mirrors, upgraded upholstery and trim, overhead console, power windows for the second and third rows, and everything that's included in the UConnnect Hands-Free package. That package includes Bluetooth, satellite radio, auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls. A Power Window Group adds express-down front windows, power second-row windows, and power-venting third-row windows.

Optional on the Grand Caravan SE is a single-screen rear-seat DVD entertainment system, packaged with satellite radio, a reversing camera, 40GB media hard-drive, 2 USB charging ports, HDMI input jacks, 115-volt power outlet, 2 wireless headphones, and a remote control. On the SXT, the entertainment system may be upgraded to a premium Blu-Ray DVD system with screens for the second- and third-row seats. The SXT also offers the hard-drive touch-screen radio separately from the entertainment system, along with the Uconnect Bluetooth system, navigation system, and power driver's seat.

Also available on the SXT are the Security Group option package (security alarm and remote engine starting); Safety Sphere Group (automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers, rear park-assist sensors, rear cross-path detection, blind-spot monitoring); and a Driver Convenience Group (overhead console storage and lighting system, heated front and second-row seats, heated steering wheel, second- and third-row manual side window sun shades). The Safety Sphere and Driver Convenience Groups are standard on the R/T, which can be fitted with either of the two entertainment systems. A Trailer Tow Group is also available.

Under the Hood
The 2015 Grand Caravan's standard drivetrain includes a 283-horsepower, 3.6-liter V-6 engine and a 6-speed automatic transmission that powers the front wheels. The engine produces 260 lb.-ft. of torque. The driver can select a Fuel Economizer driving mode designed to improve fuel economy.

Fuel Economy
According to the EPA, the 2015 Grand Caravan is expected to return 17 mpg in the city, 25 mpg on the highway, and 20 mpg combined.

Safety Ratings and Technology
The 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan's standard safety features include stability control, anti-lock disc brakes, active front head restraints, driver knee air bag, front-seat side air bags, and full-length side curtain air bags. The Safety Sphere Group of options includes automatic headlights, blind-spot monitoring system, rear park-assist and cross-traffic sensors, and a rearview camera.

In crash tests performed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan received an overall score of 4 out of 5 stars, with 4 stars for frontal-impact and 5 stars for side-impact protection. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) awarded the Dodge Grand Caravan the highest possible rating--\"Good\"--in the moderate overlap frontal-offset impact, side-impact, roof strength, and head restraint tests.
