Models and Features
Chevrolet offers the 2015 Tahoe in LS, LT, and LTZ trim levels with a choice between 2-wheel (2WD) and 4-wheel drive (4WD). Highlights from the Tahoe LS standard equipment list include 8-passenger seating, front-center air bag system, automatic triple-zone climate control, remote engine starting system, reversing camera, rear park-assist sensors, and 18-in. aluminum wheels. This model can be equipped with a front bench seat, saving the buyer $250 in the process, but the front-center air bag system is removed in such cases.
Select the Tahoe LT for leather seats, heated front seats, and a power rear liftgate. This trim level is also furnished with Chevrolet MyLink connectivity, an 8-in. color touch-screen display with a hidden storage compartment, a premium audio system, forward-collision alert system, lane-departure warning system, and a Safety Alert Seat.
The Tahoe LTZ adds 20-in. wheels, HID headlights, LED running lights, and fog lights. Additionally, this trim level includes a side blind-zone alert system, lane-change assist system, rear cross-traffic alert system, and front park-assist sensors. Inside, the LTZ features 12-way power-adjustable front seats with heating and ventilation, a power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, power-release folding rear seats, and keyless passive entry with push-button starting.
Under the Hood
A direct-injection, 5.3-liter V-8 engine is standard for all 2015 Tahoe models. It makes 355 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 383 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,100 rpm, and features cylinder-deactivation technology in order to improve fuel economy. A 6-speed automatic transmission delivers the power to the Tahoe's rear wheels, and 4WD is available as an option.
When properly equipped, the 2015 Tahoe tows 8,600 lbs. and can carry a payload of 1,760 lbs.
Every 2015 Chevy Tahoe is rated to get 16 mpg in the city and 18 mpg in combined driving. On the highway, the 2WD model returns 23 mpg while the 4WD model is expected to get 22 mpg.
Safety and Technology
Standard equipment for the 2015 Tahoe includes an OnStar telematics system that provides a free trial subscription to Automatic Crash Response, Crisis Assist, and Emergency Services. The Tahoe LS is also equipped with a front-center air bag designed to protect the driver and front passenger from collisions that occur on the opposite side of the vehicle from where they are sitting. Choose the optional front bench seat for the Tahoe LS, though, and this feature is removed from the SUV.
The Tahoe LT has a standard forward-collision warning system, lane-departure warning system, and a Safety Alert Seat that is designed to vibrate when a threat is perceived in order to heighten driver attention. Safety options for the Tahoe LT include front park-assist sensors, a side blind-zone alert system, lane-change assist system, and a rear cross-traffic alert system.
Chevrolet equips the Tahoe LTZ with all of these safety technologies, and offers an adaptive cruise control system only for this version of the SUV.
Additional upgrades include a heated steering wheel, heated second-row seats, power-folding third-row seat, power-folding outside mirrors, power sunroof, navigation system, rear-seat entertainment system, keyless passive entry with push-button starting, and more. Adaptive cruise control and power-retractable side steps are exclusive options for the top-of-the-line Tahoe LTZ.
