The 2013 Chevrolet Equinox is a 5-passenger crossover SUV available in LS, 1LT, 2LT, and LTZ trim levels. All except the LS trim include dark-tinted rear privacy glass. The LT trims get body-color trim, while the LTZ features chrome exterior d_cor.
The Equinox's multi-flex rear-seat design provides 8 inches of fore/aft travel to maximize leg room or cargo space as desired. With the seat moved all the way forward, the Equinox provides 31.4 cubic feet of cargo space.
The Equinox 1LT trim level adds a reversing camera and premium fabric seats. The 2LT trim is equipped with automatic climate control, Pioneer premium sound system with a color touch screen, power driver's seat, heated front seats, and remote engine starting. The LTZ trim adds leather, universal remote control, 8-way power front passenger seat, power liftgate, and rear park-assist sensors.
Additional options include a rear-seat entertainment system, power sunroof, navigation system, Chevy MyLink connectivity, and more.
Under the Hood
A direct-injection, 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine is standard for the Equinox, generating 182 horsepower and paired with an electric steering system.
Available as an option, a direct-injection V-6 engine delivers 301 horsepower and 272 lb.-ft. of torque. Hydraulic steering is included with this engine.
A 6-speed automatic transmission is standard with either engine, delivering power to the front wheels (FWD). An all-wheel-drive (AWD) system is available as an option.
EPA fuel-economy estimates for the 2013 Chevrolet Equinox are:
- Equinox 4-cyl. FWD: 22/32* mpg (city/highway)
- Equinox 4-cyl. AWD: 20/29 mpg
- Equinox V-6 FWD: 17/24 mpg
- Equinox V-6 AWD: 16/23 mpg
*The EPA has not yet provided combined fuel-economy ratings for the Chevy crossover SUV models.
The 2013 Equinox is equipped with 6 air bags, 4-wheel-disc anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist, traction and stability control, trailer sway control system, and 6 months of free OnStar service with Automatic Crash Response. A reversing camera is optional on the 1LT trim and standard on 2LT and LTZ trims. A new Safety package adds rear park-assist sensors, forward collision alert, and lane-departure warning technology to the 2LT and LTZ trims.
The 2013 Equinox is structurally identical to the 2012 model. Last year, this crossover SUV received a 4- (out of 5) star overall crash-test rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and a \"Top Safety Pick\" rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
