The 2014 Buick Enclave is a full-size crossover SUV with seating for up to 8 passengers in three rows of seats. Sold in a single trim level with Leather and Premium upgrade packages, the 2014 Enclave competes against 3-row luxury SUVs such as the Acura MDX, Audi Q7, Infiniti QX60, Mercedes-Benz GL-Class, Lexus GX, and Lincoln MKT.
Models and Features
The 2014 Buick Enclave comes with a Convenience package that essentially describes the SUV's standard equipment list. Highlights include triple-zone automatic climate control, OnStar telematics with a free 6-month trial subscription to service, satellite radio with a free 3-month trial subscription, a 6.5-inch color touch-screen infotainment display with a USB port and an auxiliary audio input jack, and IntelliLink Bluetooth connectivity with Internet radio compatibility and text-to-voice functionality.
A reversing camera and rear park-assist sensors are also standard for the 2014 Enclave, along with QuietTuning noise reduction, an 8-way power driver's seat, tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel with leather and wood trim, cloth seats, and 7-passenger seating with second-row captain's chairs. Every Enclave is also equipped with a power tailgate, automatic xenon headlights, and a universal garage door opener.
Options and Packages
Choose the 2014 Buick Enclave with the Leather package and this large crossover SUV is equipped with leather upholstery, an 8-way power front passenger's seat, heated front seats, memory for the driver's settings, side blind-zone alert system, rear cross-traffic alert system, and 19-inch aluminum wheels. The Premium package adds a premium audio system, power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats, power-folding outside mirrors with auto-dimming glass on the driver's side, articulating headlights, and chrome wheels. For 2014, this package also contains new forward-collision alert and lane-departure warning systems.
Additionally, the Enclave can be optioned with an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system, a second-row bench seat for 8-passenger capacity, power sunroof, navigation system, rear-seat DVD entertainment system with a 115-volt rear-seat power outlet, 20-inch aluminum wheels, and a trailering package that bumps towing capacity to 4,500 pounds.
Under the Hood
Buick provides a single engine and transmission choice for the 2014 Enclave. The SUV's 3.6-liter V-6 engine generates 288 horsepower at 6,300 rpm and 270 lb.-ft. of torque at 3,400 rpm, and is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard, with AWD optional.
As this overview is written, the EPA has not published official 2014 Buick Enclave fuel-economy ratings.
Safety Ratings and Technology
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the 2014 Enclave receives a 5-star overall crash-test rating. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) had not published an official rating for the 2014 Enclave.
For 2014, the Buick Enclave is offered with a new forward-collision warning system and a new lane-departure warning system. These technologies are standard in the Premium package, and are optional on Enclaves equipped with the Leather package.
A free 6-month subscription to OnStar telematics is standard for every 2014 Enclave. It includes Automatic Crash Response, which activates if the SUV's air bags deploy, putting the vehicle's occupants in touch with a live operator who can send emergency personnel directly to the Enclave's location in order to speed rescue.
