Exterior Features
The 2012 Buick Enclave is a 3-row, 7-passenger crossover SUV with a modern wagon-like profile. The Enclave is recognizable as a Buick by its signature waterfall grille up front, chrome portholes, and 3-dimensional multi-lens taillights. Although the model's platform is identical to that of the Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia, the Enclave offers more luxury features. The Enclave offers several option packages that resemble trim levels. The base Enclave features 19-inch wheels, wrap-around bi-Xenon headlights, power liftgate, and keyless entry as standard equipment. With proper equipment, towing capacity is 4,500 pounds.

Interior Features
The Buick Enclave's standard interior includes cloth upholstery. At no extra charge, the second-row captain's chairs can be exchanged for a bench seat that increases seating to 8 passengers. Some power features are included, along with cruise control, 6-speaker sound system, and a leather-and-wood steering wheel.

Optional Features
The option packages on the 2012 Enclave, which build on each other, are the Convenience Group (remote ignition, rearview camera, parking assist); Leather Group (leather upholstery, heated front seats, more power features); and the Premium Group (combines the other two groups and adds upgraded wheels, adaptive headlights, heated and ventilated front seats, premium audio system, and other enhancements). Stand-alone options include 20-inch wheels, two-pane sunroof, premium Bose surround-sound system, navigation system, and a rear-seat entertainment system.

Under the Hood
The 2012 Buick Enclave is powered by a 3.6-liter V-6 engine that delivers 288 horsepower and 270 lb.-ft. of torque. Front-wheel drive and a 6-speed automatic transmission are standard, with all-wheel drive optional.

Fuel Economy
EPA fuel-economy figures for the 2012 Buick Enclave are:
- Enclave with front-wheel drive: 17/24/19 mpg (city/highway/combined)
- Enclave with all-wheel drive: 16/22/18 mpg

Safety
Standard safety features on the 2012 Buick Enclave include anti-lock disc brakes, traction control, front-seat side air bags, and side curtain air bags. Other safety features are optional.

In government crash tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the Buick Enclave received 4 (out of 5) stars for front-impact crash protection and 5 stars for side-impact protection. In safety tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Enclave received a \"Good\" rating--the Institute's highest--for frontal-offset and side-impact crash protection.
