Exterior Features
The Audi Q5 is a compact crossover SUV that seats up to 5 passengers. The model is based on the Audi A4 sedan, and competes directly with the BMW X3. The Q5 is available in four trims: 2.0T Premium, 2.0T Premium Plus, 3.2 Premium Plus, and 3.2 Prestige. Standard base exteriors feature 18-inch wheels, automatic headlights and wipers, and roof rails. Upgrades at various trim levels include 19-inch wheels, headlight washers, remote ignition and entry, Xenon headlights, power tailgate, LED running lights, adaptive headlights, and power-folding exterior mirrors.

Interior Features
The 2.0T Premium trim features leather upholstery, 8-way power front seats and other power accessories, 3-zone climate control, 10-speaker sound system, and a dash-mounted multimedia interface. Added features at various trim levels include a 14-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, navigation system bundled with music storage, rearview camera, and much more.

Optional Features
Many upper-trim features are available as options on lower trims. Other options include a panoramic sunroof and heated front seats. For the 3.2 Prestige, the Audi Drive Select package also includes various settings for the throttle response and transmission shift points. Also available for the 3.2 Prestige are upgraded leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, adaptive cruise control, 20-inch wheels, performance tires, and a sport steering wheel.

Under the Hood
The Q5 2.0T models feature a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that delivers 211 horsepower. The 3.2 models upgrade to a 3.2-liter V-6 engine rated at 270 horsepower. Both engines include an 8-speed transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, with Audi's quattro full-time all-wheel drive--designed to improve traction during inclement weather--as an option.

Fuel Economy
EPA fuel-economy figures for the 2012 Audi Q5 are:
- Q5 with 4-cylinder engine: 22/28/24 mpg (city/highway/combined)
- Q5 with V-6 engine: 18/23/20 mpg

Safety features on the 2012 Audi Q5 include anti-lock disc brakes, traction control, front-seat side air bags, and side curtain air bags. Rear-seat side air bags are optional.

In government crash tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the Audi Q5 received 4 (out of 5) stars for rollover protection. In tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Audi Q5 received a \"Good\" rating--the Institute's highest--for all safety tests.
