Exterior Features
The 2013 Audi A6 is sold in 2.0T and 3.0T model series equipped with Premium or Premium Plus trim levels. The A6 3.0T is additionally offered in a Prestige trim level.

Standard equipment for the 2.0T Premium model includes rain-sensing wipers, heated side mirrors with LED turn signal indicators, heated washer nozzles, automatic headlights, LED taillights, and 17-inch aluminum wheels.

Interior Features
The Audi A6 2.0T Premium includes leather seats, walnut wood trim, ambient cabin lighting, triple-zone automatic climate control, power sunroof, push-button ignition, Audi Drive Select technology, and a universal garage door opener. Both front seats offer 8-way power adjustment, and the driver seat includes 4-way power lumbar adjustment. Additionally, the A6 2.0T Premium is equipped with Bluetooth and a 10-speaker audio system with satellite radio and iPod connectivity.

Optional Features

The next trim level in the lineup, the 2.0T Premium Plus, offers a number of upgrades, including 18-inch aluminum wheels, xenon headlights with LED running lights, navigation system with a handwriting-recognition touchpad, front and rear parking sensors, reversing camera, auto-dimming side mirrors, color driver information system, Audi Advanced Key keyless entry, and HD Radio. This trim level also includes Audi Connect services with Google Earth navigation images, Google search, and mobile Wi-Fi capability.

For 2013, Audi is offering Quattro all-wheel drive (AWD) as an option on the 2.0T Premium and Premium Plus trims, and vehicles so equipped also have heated front seats.

The A6 3.0T Premium and Premium Plus trims include 2.0T Premium and Premium Plus equipment, plus a supercharged V-6 engine, Quattro all-wheel drive, heated front seats, and upgraded brakes.

At the top of the A6 lineup, the 3.0T Prestige includes a sporty S-line exterior styling treatment, adaptive front lighting system, LED running lights, 4-zone automatic climate control, heated and ventilated front seats, 630-watt premium sound system with 14 speakers, power tilt/telescoping steering wheel, and LED ambient cabin lighting.

All 2013 A6 models can be optioned with metallic paint, brushed aluminum or genuine wood interior trim, rear window sunshades, and rear side-impact air bags. Option packages include an Audi Side Assist package (blind-spot monitoring, power-folding side mirrors, Audi PreSense Rear); Sport package (firmer suspension, 3-spoke steering wheel with shift paddles, larger wheels); and a Cold Weather package (front and rear heated seats, heated steering wheel).

Premium Plus trims can be upgraded with the same premium surround-sound audio system that comes standard on the Prestige trim. The 3.0T Premium Plus and Prestige trims can be outfitted with the available Driver Assistance package (blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, Audi PreSense Plus).

Options exclusive to the A6 3.0T Prestige include full LED headlights, 1,300-watt Bang & Olufsen audio system, Sport package with 20-inch wheels and summer performance tires, and an Innovation package. The Innovation Package adds the Driver Assistance package plus a head-up display, active lane-assist system, Night Vision Assistant with Pedestrian Detection, and a camera system with a top-down view and corner views.

Under the Hood
The A6 2.0T is equipped with a turbocharged, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine generating 211 horsepower at 4,300 rpm and 258 lb.-ft. of torque starting at 1,500 rpm. With front-wheel drive (FWD), this engine is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). When Quattro all-wheel drive is ordered, an 8-speed automatic transmission is standard. Audi claims this model will accelerate to 60 mph in 7.5 seconds with FWD, or 6.7 seconds with Quattro.

The A6 3.0T models are more powerful, thanks to a supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 delivering 310 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 325 lb.-ft. of torque starting at 2,900 rpm. Quattro is standard, as well as the 8-speed automatic transmission. Audi says the A6 3.0T accelerates to 60 mph in 5.3 seconds.

On vehicles with Quattro, power is distributed to all four wheels, with 40% of engine output flowing to the front wheels and 60% going to the rear wheels.

Audi Drive Select is standard on every A6. Using a dial, the driver can tune the steering, suspension and drivetrain response to one of four settings: Comfort, Auto, Dynamic, or Individual. Individual allows the driver to mix-and-match between the previous three for a more tailored setup.

Fuel Economy
EPA fuel-economy estimates for the 2013 Audi A6 are:

  • A6 2.0T FWD: 25/33/28 mpg (city/highway/combined)
  • A6 2.0T Quattro: 20/30/24 mpg
  • A6 3.0T Quattro: 18/27/22 mpg

The 2013 Audi A6 is equipped with 8 standard air bags, traction and stability control system, and 4-wheel ventilated disc anti-lock brakes with brake assist. Side-impact air bags for rear-seat occupants are optional.

Audi offers numerous safety options for the A6. Audi Side Assist is a blind-spot monitoring system. It is available separately, or as part of the Driver Assistance package, which also contains an active cruise control system and Audi PreSense Plus. Audi PreSense Plus can identify when a collision may be imminent, and can automatically apply the brakes to try and slow or stop the car.

The A6 3.0T Prestige is exclusively offered with an optional Innovation package. It includes the contents of the Driver Assistance package, plus an active lane-assist system, camera system offering top-down and corner viewing angles, head-up display, and a Night Vision Assistant with Pedestrian Detection system. The latter feature employs infrared technology to detect people and animals up to 1,000 feet ahead of the A6. As the A6 closes that gap, the system uses a yellow visual warning when the car is within 300 feet of the person or animal, and if the animal or person steps into the A6's path a red alert will be shown on the display.

As this overview is written, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has not performed crash tests on the current-generation Audi A6. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has not rated the 2013 A6 model as this overview is written, but it rated the structurally similar 2012 model a \"Top Safety Pick.\"
