Recall Roundup: Loose Lug Nuts Cause Cadillac Recall

Recall Roundup: Loose Lug Nuts Cause Cadillac Recall

By Jeff Youngs, May 28, 2013
During the past week, car manufacturers have issued a single recall. General Motors is requesting that 18,871 units of the 2013 Cadillac SRX return to dealers so that the luxury crossover SUV's wheel lug nuts can be replaced during a free tire rotation provided by the dealer.

Cadillac says that the lug nuts on vehicles equipped with 18-inch aluminum wheels may loosen over time. Loose lug nuts may fall off or allow the wheel studs to fracture. Either way, the result could be the loss of a wheel, which increases the risk of a crash.

Dealers are expected to begin repairs by June 3, 2013. Owners may contact General Motors with questions by calling 1-800-521-7300 and referencing GM recall campaign number 13116. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recall campaign number is 13V202000.
