Recall Roundup: GM to Recall Chevrolet SS Sport Sedan for Power Steering Issue

During the past week, a total of 6,502 light passenger vehicles were recalled by General Motors (GM) and BMW of North America (BMW). The largest recall affects just over 6,200 Chevrolet SS sport sedans from the 2014, 2015, and 2016 model years.

2017-2018 BMW M760Li xDrive

  • Number of vehicles affected: 206
  • Issue: An incorrect engine oil cooler line may have been installed, causing an oil leak in the engine compartment.
  • Remedy: BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace the engine oil cooler line free of charge.
  • Timing: The recall is expected to begin August 7, 2017. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
  • Manufacturer recall number: 17V-240
  • NHTSA recall number: 17V377000

2013-2015 BMW 7 Series

  • Number of vehicles affected: 92
  • Issue: The affected 2013-2015 740i, 740Li, 740Lxi, 750i, 750xi, 750Li and 750Lxi and 2014 ActiveHybrid 7 vehicles may have received incorrect replacement left rear taillight assemblies.
  • Remedy: BMW will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles and replace any incorrect left rear taillight assemblies free of charge.
  • Timing: The recall is expected to begin August 7, 2017. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
  • NHTSA recall number: 17V379000

2014-2016 Chevrolet SS

  • Number of vehicles affected: 6,204
  • Issue: Corrosion of the connector between the electric power steering module and the torque sensor connector may cause a loss of electric power steering assist.
  • Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the steering gear assembly, replacing it as necessary, free of charge.
  • Timing: The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020.
