Recall Roundup: Ford Recalls 1.1 Million 2015-2017 F-Series Pickups for Door Fix

During the past week, various automakers recalled more than 1.83 million light passenger vehicles, dating back to the 2005 model year. The recalls affect vehicles made by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles US (FCA US), Ford Motor Company (Ford), Tesla Motors (Tesla), and Toyota Motor (Toyota).

2012-2013 Chrysler 200
2012-2013 Dodge Avenger
2012 Jeep Liberty

  • Number of vehicles affected: 414,134
  • Issue: FCA US is recalling certain 2012 Jeep Liberty and 2012-2013 Chrysler 200 and Dodge Avenger vehicles. A component within the occupant restraint controller (ORC) may fail and prevent the active headrests from deploying in the event of a rear-end crash.
  • Remedy: FCA US will notify owners, and dealers will replace the ORC as necessary free of charge.
  • Timing: The recall is expected to begin November 29, 2017. Owners may contact FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403.

2017 Ford F-550 Super Duty

  • Number of vehicles affected: 1,101,107
  • Issue: Ford is recalling certain 2015-2017 Ford F-150, and 2017 F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 Super Duty trucks. The doors on these vehicles may have a bent or kinked actuation cable or the door latches may freeze after water gets into the latch. Either condition can result in the doors opening while driving although they appear to be closed.
  • Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the door latch actuation cables and repair if necessary, and install water shields over the door latches, free of charge.
  • Timing: The recall is expected to begin November 13, 2017. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332.

2010 Lexus HS 250h Hybrid

  • Number of vehicles affected: 18,130
  • Issue: A component within the hybrid transaxle assembly may short circuit and result in a reduction or a complete loss of available power for moving the vehicle.
  • Remedy: Lexus will notify owners, and dealers will replace the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly free of charge.
  • Timing: The recall is expected to begin November 20, 2017. Owners may contact Lexus customer service at 1-800-255-3987.
  • Manufacturer recall number: HLE
  • NHTSA recall number: 17V619000


2016-2017 Tesla Model X

  • Number of vehicles affected: 4,582
  • Issue: The left-side, second-row reclining seat backs may not fully latch due to having incorrectly adjusted recliner mechanism cables.
  • Remedy: Tesla will notify owners, and Tesla service technicians will correct the cable adjustment for the left-side, fold-flat, second-row seat recliner mechanism free of charge.
  • Timing: The recall is expected to begin in October 2017. Owners may contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752.
  • Manufacturer recall number: SB-17-13-004
  • NHTSA recall number: 17V639000


2005-2007, 2009-2010 Toyota Sienna

  • Number of vehicles affected: 310,475
  • Issue: Due to a problem within the shift-lock solenoid, the shift lever may be moved out of the 'Park' position without depressing the brake pedal.
  • Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will replace the shift lock solenoid free of charge.
  • Timing: The recall is expected to begin December 1, 2017. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Vehicles that were previously recalled under campaign 13V-429 are not affected by this recall.
