Recall Roundup: Ford Announces Three Small Recalls, Honda to Fix Dealer’s Mistake on Air Bag Inflator Repairs

During the past week, a total of 2,247 light passenger vehicles were recalled by Ford Motor Company (Ford) and American Honda Motor Co. (Honda). Ford issued three recalls of various 2017 models, while the Honda recall affects vehicles from the 2008 through 2012 model years that were processed by a particular dealership.

2017 Ford Focus

  • Number of vehicles affected: 698
  • Issue: The rear left side seatback frame may have an insufficient weld between the outboard pivot bracket and the pivot nut joint, resulting in the seatback having reduced strength.
  • Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the rear left side seatback as necessary, free of charge.
  • Timing: The recall is expected to begin October 16, 2017. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332.

2017 Ford F-150
2017 Ford Mustang

  • Number of vehicles affected: 650
  • Issue: The air bag inflator within the passenger frontal air bag module may rupture in the event of a crash.
  • Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the passenger frontal air bag module free of charge.
  • Timing: The recall is expected to begin October 9, 2017. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332.

  • Number of vehicles affected: 253
  • Issue: The steering gear heat shield fasteners may corrode, allowing the heat shield to detach.
  • Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the heat shield fasteners as needed free of charge.
  • Timing: The recall is expected to begin in September 2017. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332.

  • Number of vehicles affected: 646
  • Issue: The affected vehicles include 2008-2012 Accord, 2010 and 2012 Accord Crosstour, 2006-2011 Civic, 2007-2011 CR-V, 2009-2012 Fit and Pilot, and 2010-2012 Insight vehicles that received replacement passenger frontal air bag inflators. One dealership may have incorrectly installed the replacement air bag inflators.
  • Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the passenger frontal air bag module assembly free of charge.
  • Timing: The recall is expected to begin October 1, 2017. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138.
  • Manufacturer recall number: O07, Y0A, N06, G05, M04, Y01, and O09
