Recall Roundup: BMW Recalls X3, M6 for Air Bag Issue; Dodge to Replace Hellcat Engine Oil Cooler Lines

During the past week, automakers recalled a total of just under 8,000 light passenger vehicles, from the 2012, 2013, and 2017 model years. The largest of these recalls comes from BMW of North America (BMW), and affects various 2012 and 2013 vehicles.

2012-2013 BMW M6 Convertible
2013 BMW M6 Coupe
2012-2013 BMW X3

  • Number of vehicles affected: 6,785
  • Issue: The affected 2012-2013 BMW X3 xDrive28i, X3 xDrive35i, and M6 Convertible vehicles and 2013 M6 Coupe vehicles have a driver's frontal air bag inflator that may have been improperly welded.
  • Remedy: BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver's front air bag module free of charge.
  • Timing: The recall is expected to begin October 9, 2017. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

2017 Dodge Challenger
2017 Dodge Charger

  • Number of vehicles affected: 1,207
  • Issue: The affected vehicles feature Hellcat engines. The engine oil cooler (EOC) hoses may fail resulting in a rapid loss of engine oil.
  • Remedy: Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) will notify owners, and dealers will replace the EOC lines free of charge.
  • Timing: The recall is expected to begin September 22, 2017. Owners may contact FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403.

2017 Jaguar F-Pace

  • Number of vehicles affected: 1
  • Issue: A bolt used to attach the high-pressure fuel pump may be too long. As a result, the fuel pump may not be properly secured and the fuel line may crack and leak.
  • Remedy: Jaguar Land Rover North America (Jaguar) will notify the owner, and a dealer will replace both fuel pumps and the associated fuel lines free of charge.
  • Timing: The recall is expected to begin September 26, 2017. Owners may contact Jaguar customer service at 1-800-452-4827.

2017 Land Rover Range Rover

  • Number of vehicles affected: 1
  • Issue: A bolt used to attach the high-pressure fuel pump may be too long. As a result, the fuel pump may not be properly secured and the fuel line may crack and leak.
