Honda Issues Recall for Odyssey and Pilot to Fix Driver Air Bag

Honda Issues Recall for Odyssey and Pilot to Fix Driver Air Bag

By Jeff Youngs, January 30, 2013
According to a new recall issued by Honda, the driver side air bag module in approximately 748,000 late-model Honda Odysseys and Honda Pilots may be improperly fastened to the driver side air bag cover, which could negatively impact the air bag's performance when it deploys, thereby increasing the risk of injury in a crash.

The affected models include the 2011-2013 Honda Odyssey and the 2009-2013 Honda Pilot assembled between March 13, 2008, and December 21, 2012. In these models, the air bag's plastic cover may not be properly assembled using all of the rivets required to secure it. To resolve the problem, Honda dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the driver side air bag free of charge.

Honda expects the recall to begin on February 16, 2013. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recall campaign ID number is 13V016000, and the Honda recall campaign number is S75. Concerned owners can also contact Honda by calling 1-800-999-1009.
