Introduction
Chevrolet has unleashed its most powerful and best performing sports car ever, in the form of the 2019 Corvette ZR1. Infused with 755 horsepower from a supercharged, 6.2-liter V-8 engine, the new ZR1 makes 105 more horsepower than a Corvette Z06, yet it weighs a mere 10 lbs. more.

Exterior Features
In order to maximize engine and component cooling, and to help clear the engine’s massive new supercharger and intercooler, the Corvette ZR1’s face and carbon fiber hood are exclusive to this model. Around back, wings of two different styles and heights are tied directly into the chassis, similar to Chevy’s approach with its Corvette C7.R racecar.

The taller wing is adjustable, and is included in the optional ZTK Performance package. Additional upgrades with this package include a front splitter with carbon fiber end caps, modified suspension tuning, recalibrated chassis, and more aggressive tires.

Also available, a Sebring Orange Design package adds, you guessed it, Sebring Orange paint.

Interior Features
Choose the Sebring Orange Design package and the ZR1 features orange contrast stitching, orange seat belts, and bronze-tinted aluminum trim. Leather is standard equipment for the new ZR1, and Chevrolet offers numerous options for upgrading the cabin.

Optional Features
Among the extra-cost items are Alcantara suede seat inserts or, if you prefer, premium Nappa leather. Competition seating is also available, designed to better hold you in place while exploring the car’s prodigious limits, and you can get heated and ventilated seats, too.

Buyers can upgrade the infotainment system to a Bose premium sound system, and a performance data recorder is available to capture your need for speed and to share your exploits via social media in both video and statistical formats.

Under the Hood
Featuring direct and port injection, and equipped with a supercharger boasting a 52% increase in displacement compared with the one used for the Corvette Z06, the new Corvette ZR1’s 6.2-liter V-8 engine bellows with 755 horsepower at 6,300 rpm and 715 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,400 rpm. Chevrolet does not quote an acceleration time to 60 mph, but does say that the ZR1 will go 210 mph.

A 7-speed manual transmission with Active Rev Matching is standard, and for the first time ever in a ZR1 an automatic transmission is optional. It has 8 forward speeds, and a set of paddle shifters.

Variable-ratio steering, aluminum front and rear suspension components with Magnetic Ride Control dampers, 2-piece carbon ceramic brakes with 6-piston front and 4-piston rear calipers, and staggered-width wheels and tires (19s in front and 20s in back), do their best to ensure that the Corvette ZR1 can do more than simply go fast in a straight line.

Safety
Aside from a standard reversing camera and a trial subscription to OnStar services, which includes automatic collision notification and SOS emergency calling, you’re pretty much on your own when it comes to driving a Corvette ZR1. So don’t screw up.

Technology
Performance Traction Management can help to keep the ZR1’s power under control, provided that you haven’t defeated it. The Corvette is also available with a navigation system, which installs a larger 8-in. infotainment system display, as well as a head-up display, which can help a driver to keep his or her eyes on the road while traveling at speed. Curb-view cameras make sure that the ZR1’s wheels and bodywork remain scratch-free.
