Voracious 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon Priced at $86,090

By Philly Murtha, May 24, 2017

Dodge has revealed that its 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon will have a starting suggested retail price of $86,090 (including gas guzzler tax and fees) when it reaches showrooms this summer. Production of the performance brand’s most powerful, street-legal midsize sporty car will be limited to 3,000 serialized copies for the U.S. market and 300 for Canada, Dodge has announced.

For racing enthusiasts and collectors, a perk with purchase of this athletic beast is a full day of training on the track at the Bob Bondurant School of High-Performance Driving in Chandler, AZ. A custom, leather-bound Track Tech Manual is also included for collectors. Dodge also says insurance for this super beast will be offered to buyers through Hagerty Insurance.

For $1 extra each, buyers can purchase a front passenger seat, rear cloth or leather seat, and a Demon trunk carpet kit.

Demon Crate components, valued at over $6,000, also cost $1 and include drag wheels, performance air filter, and track tools to help unleash 840 horsepower and 770 lb.-ft. of torque at the strip or race oval. The engine, matched with the TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission, normally produces 808 horsepower and 717 lb.-ft. of torque. The Challenger SRT Demon’s 6.2-liter Hemi V-8 engine also has been certified by the National Hot Rod Association to complete a quarter mile in 9.65 seconds at a speed of 140 mph. Dodge claims that 0-60 acceleration is 2.3 seconds, and that the new Demon can achive 1.8g on the skidpad.

This high-end performance car comes with Dodge’s largest functional hood scoop, special cooling systems, sport tuning, and adaptive damping suspension, plus a Brembo performance brake system. The cabin features dark-brushed accents and a flat-bottom SRT Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel and paddle shifters. Track-ready radial tires and aluminum wheels are part of the package, as are Demon logo fender badges and a numbered dash plaque. The new muscle car will come in 15 exterior paint colors and will be available with other trim packages and upgrades.
