Toyota Updates, Upgrades 2015 Yaris

By Jeff Youngs, July 25, 2014

The 2015 Toyota Yaris is coming soon to a dealer near you, equipped with revised styling, an upgraded interior, new technology, and more. The 2015 Yaris will continue in 3-door and 5-door hatchback body styles, and in L, LE, and SE trim levels.

While the 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine carries over for 2015, still making 106 horsepower, the standard 5-speed manual gearbox benefits from a new clutch while the optional 4-speed automatic transmission carries over without changes. To improve the ride and handling, Toyota has stiffened the 2015 Yaris's body structure, re-tuned the suspension, and installed a new quick-ratio electric steering setup.

Freshened exterior styling and improved aerodynamics wrap around what Toyota says is a quieter interior constructed of higher-quality materials displaying soft-touch surfaces. Every Yaris continues to offer 9 air bags, including a knee air bag for the driver and front seat-cushion air bags.

Standard equipment includes air conditioning, power windows, and power door locks. A new 6.1-in. touch-screen audio system is also standard, providing Bluetooth connectivity and audio streaming capability, voice-recognition technology, HD Radio, iTunes tagging capability, an auxiliary audio input jack, USB port, and 6 speakers.

Upgrade to the Yaris LE and the car includes cruise control, power side mirrors, remote keyless entry, steering wheel controls for the audio system, metallic interior trim, and 15-in. aluminum wheels.

The Yaris SE is the sporty version, adding projector-beam headlights, LED running lights, fog lights, rear spoiler, leather-trimmed steering wheel fronting sport gauges, special seat fabric, and gloss black interior trim. The SE is more than just a cosmetic upgrade, though, as it also includes a sport suspension, 4-wheel-disc brakes with larger front brakes, and 16-in. machined-surface aluminum wheels.

When the 2015 Toyota Yaris goes on sale, prices will range from $15,310 (including the $825 destination charge) for a Yaris L 3-door with a manual transmission to $18,445 for a Yaris SE 5-door with an automatic. Dealers can install a number of extra-cost accessories on the Yaris, including a new navigation system.
