Toyota Unveils 2019 TRD Pro Series Off-Road Packages in Chicago

By Philly Murtha, February 08, 2018
Toyota reveals the latest TRD Pro Series of performance off-road packages for its 2019 4Runner midsize SUV plus Tacoma and Tundra pickups at the Chicago Auto Show. Specially-designed shocks, tuned suspension with extra lift and a host of off-road components offer optimal performance, and protection to the TRD Pro lineup. TRD Pro off-road packages, first introduced in 2014, will be available this fall, Toyota says.

What makes these off-road TRD Pro packages unique? The exclusive Fox 2.5-in. internal bypass aluminum shocks designed by Toyota’s TRD Motorsports division gives a comfortable ride for desert races, rock crawls, and highway travel. Toyota says front shocks are paired with tuned TRD springs to produce between 1-2 inches of extra lift for a higher stance, depending on the vehicle.

The TRD Pro packages also include dust boots and skid plates and the 4Runner package features roost shields to save rear shocks and an available TRD roof rack. Tacoma and Tundra TRD Pro variants receive beefier pistons and springs. A moon roof also is available on the Tundra TRD Pro variant. All TRD Pro variants are equipped with their own BBS forged aluminum black wheels and selected all-terrain tires. Three new TRD Pro colors can be selected: Super White, Midnight Black Metallic and exclusive Voodoo Blue.

These TRD Pro variants also receive special interior treatments with leather and red stitching. A high-end premium JBL audio system and subwoofer with integrated navigation is standard and other appointments for the TRD Pro lineup include TRD Pro logo floor mats, shift knob, headrests. LED fog lights, black Toyota grille and projector headlights with smoke trim and black chrome exhaust tips.

New this year for TRD Pro packages is an optional desert air intake that removes dust and silt to help keep wheel wells and engine cleaner. Safety systems are abundant including Toyota’s Star System with stability and traction control, ABS and brake assist. Tundra and Tacoma trucks also come standard with advanced pre-collision system, lane departure alert, sway warning and automatic high beams plus radar cruise.
