By Philly Murtha, March 22, 2017
Toyota will exhibit two updated models—the 2018 Sienna midsize van and 2018 Yaris subcompact—at next month’s New York International Auto Show. The Sienna, with styling tweaks and new safety and convenience features, reaches showrooms this fall. The Yaris, designed and assembled in France, has a sportier, more refined European look and arrives this summer.

The freshened Sienna features a redesigned front fascia with a larger, lower grille and bigger fog lights plus lower rocker panels for a sportier appearance. Nine exterior paint colors include three new choices: Pearlized Brown, Gray Green, and Dark Blue.

Toyota introduced a more powerful V-6 engine that produces 296 horsepower in its 2017 Sienna. For 2018, Toyota equips all Siennas with its Toyota Safety Sense-P suite of advanced safety systems including collision avoidance with pedestrian detection, radar cruise control, lane-departure warning with steering assist, and automatic high beams.

The 2018 Sienna also comes with the latest Entune 3.0 multimedia system that has navigation and GPS Link with Maps in L, LE, SE, and XLE trim levels. All but the basic L trim offer the Entune audio plus system with Wi-Fi connectivity. A premium JBL sound system is available. Among other additions are extra USB ports and an updated rear-seat entertainment system.

The updated Yaris L and LE for 2018 feature a bolder front fascia, new grille, and chrome accents. The SE trim is wider with a new rear bumper, horizontal tail lights integrated into the rear door, and rides on 16-in. alloy wheels with dark accents.

Inside the updated Yaris, audio and convenience feature upgrades start with a standard 3-spoke steering wheel with audio controls and sporty analog instrument cluster. Sporty trims get tach, fuel gauge, and other driving information instrument readouts. A higher-end Entune multimedia system is now available on lower trims and the SE and higher trims include an upgraded multimedia system with 7-in display screen.

The 2018 Yaris comes in eight exterior colors with new Blue Eclipse and two-tone Blue Eclipse with Black Sand Pearl roof. New interior fabrics offered on some Yaris trims include a combined black and gray and all-black.
