Toyota Offers More Choices with 2019 Yaris Small Sedan

By Philly Murtha, March 26, 2018
Toyota will offer more choices in trim levels for its 2019 Yaris (subcompact) sedan that was initially designed by Mazda and is built in Mexico. Three trims, new leather and leatherette interior, a sporty front grille, more safety systems, new colors and better fuel economy are a few of the changes in the new 2019 Yaris sedan that will reach dealer showrooms this fall.

The small sedan, now simply called Yaris rather than Yaris iA, will be available in three trims—L, LE and XLE—with upscale additions, including leatherette trimmed seats, leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knob plus LED headlights and rain-sensing wipers. All trims come with standard infotainment system with 7.0-in. screen and backup camera display plus 6-speaker sound system.

The 2019 Yaris sedan exterior sports a new front grille with honeycomb inserts. Styling cues include black accents and chrome trim. Fog lights are standard on LE and XLE trims along with a new rear spoiler. A new color-match antenna helps with satellite radio coverage. Power outside mirrors are standard on all trims with heat and turn indicators on upper trims. A palette of seven colors is offered.

Power for the new 2019 Yaris sedan comes from a fuel-efficient 1.5-liter, 4-cylinder engine that produces 106 horsepower and 103 lb.-ft. of torque when paired with an available 6-speed automatic. Estimated fuel economy is 32 mpg in the city, 40 mpg on the highway for a combined 35 mpg. When paired with a six-speed manual, Yaris averages 34 mpg in combined driving.

The base L trim level comes with standard power windows, locks and mirrors, cruise control and push-button start. Bluetooth is standard along with an advanced automatic emergency braking system at low speeds. Move up to LE and add fancier dark gun metal alloy 16-in. wheels plus fog lights, while the upscale XLE adds leather and leatherette interior. Standard safety systems for the 2019 Yaris sedan include a full contingent of air bags, child LATCH system with Toyota’s active safety system and low-speed pre-collision warning.
