Subaru Unveils Slip and Grip WRX STI "S207" Limited Edition in Japan
This week, Subaru Tecnica International (STI), the motorsports division of Fuji Heavy Industries in Japan, announced that it will produce 400 limited-edition WRX STI compact sporty cars for consumers who want a race car-like feel and experience. The exclusive model can be ordered between Dec. 1, 2015 and March 6, 2016.
STI dubs the top-of-the line model the “S207.” It is geared to be an ultimate road machine and will feature dynamic engine and suspension tuning and a distinctive exterior and interior design. The S207 is available in three paint colors: WR Blue Pearl, Crystal White Pearl, and Crystal Black Silica. There’s also a special run of a version in yellow.
The model’s engine tuning will generate nearly 328 horsepower, according to Subaru officials. A quick steering gear ratio of 11:1 with the addition of special components including a flexible tower bar, damping, and front-rear torque vectoring makes for super sharp agility around corners, the automaker says. Braking performance is enhanced with Brembo brakes, front and rear, with special calipers and rotors. The car features an exclusive large front spoiler. Custom-designed 19-in. tires are part of the package. Inside the car, the WRX STI S207 is equipped with Recaro front bucket seats and a customized instrument panel geared for sports car driving.
In an effort to evoke the spirit of Germany’s Nurburgring 24-hour race, in which the WRX STI competes, Subaru’s motorsports division also is offering an NBR Challenge package, which features a custom carbon rear spoiler and badging that commemorates Subaru’s victory in its class at this year’s race. Only 200 units of the NBR will be available. In addition, a 100-unit limited run of the NBR Challenge package Yellow Edition cars will be available.
