Subaru Reveals Next Year’s 2017 BRZ Series.Yellow Limited Edition

By Philly Murtha, June 14, 2016
Subaru unveiled the 2017 BRZ Series.Yellow Special Edition sports coupe for lovers of the Japanese car brand at the Wicked Big Meet festival, held at the Stafford Motor Speedway in Stafford Springs, CT. The BRZ Series.Yellow compact sporty car will be produced in a run of just 500 copies and will arrive in U.S. dealer showrooms next year.

Besides the brilliant yellow paint exterior, the Series.Yellow is a performance model that features unique yellow accents, rides on 17-in. black aluminum alloy wheels, and comes with fold-in black side mirrors and special black BRZ and nameplate badging. The Special Edition also is equipped with dual automatic climate control, keyless entry with push-button start, and lights for the visor mirrors and front doors.

The BRZ Series.Yellow is powered by the newly tweaked Subaru Boxer 2.0-liter engine that generates 205 horsepower and 156 lb.-ft. of torque when mated with a 6-speed manual transmission that provides a shorter gear ratio. The Series.Yellow is based on the BRZ’s upscale Limited trim level and comes standard with Subaru’s new Performance package, which includes a reinforced chassis, coil springs, Brembo performance brakes to boost stopping power, and Sachs performance shocks on all four wheels for better handling, stability, and steering.

Inside the Series.Yellow, seats are done in black leather and Alcantara upholstery. Yellow stitching accents the seats, door and dash panels, steering wheel, and shifter boot. Front seats also are embellished with a yellow BRZ logo and even the floor mats are stitched in yellow with Silver BRZ logos. A 4.2-in. display screen to the right of the tach includes extensive driver performance readout information such as lateral G and braking force. There’s even a lap-time stopwatch feature. As in all Limited BRZ trim levels, the Special Edition is equipped with Subaru’s Starlink multimedia system.
