Shopping for a Hybrid Car on TV Network

By Jeff Youngs, October 10, 2012
Recently, viewers had a chance to take a look at new hybrid gasoline/electric cars on TV. Last Sunday afternoon and evening, Toyota introduced its Avalon Hybrid on multichannel retailer HSN (Home Shopping Network) three times during the day.

Several auto experts from Kelley Blue Book and Vroomgirls.com joined HSN hosts Marlo Smith and Brett Chuckerman to provide an up-close and personal look at Toyota's line of hybrids--including its family of four Prius hybrid variants. One of the key features of the new Avalon Hybrid is that it was engineered and is built in the USA.

In the past, the Avalon competed with Large Conventional models, or full-size sedans. However, the redesigned model, which has smaller dimensions, will move into the premium midsize conventional car segment.

One of the perks that Toyota offered to viewers of HSN who registered with the network or visited a special Toyota/HSN site was the possibility of receiving a $1,000 gas card or HSN "Kash" if a viewer purchased a Toyota hybrid during the next 90 days.

Also, the site features videos, a quiz and a Toyota-themed game. Viewers can earn points to play to win prizes and enter a sweepstakes for a chance to win an Avalon Hybrid. The site will remain active through Nov. 5, according to a Toyota statement.

HSN is a home shopping TV network that is active 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. The network can be reached online at HSN.com.
