Refreshed 2019 Kia Sedona Minivan Debuts in New York

Refreshed 2019 Kia Sedona Minivan Debuts in New York

By Philly Murtha, March 29, 2018
Kia this week revealed an updated 2019 Sedona midsize van with a bolder front end, an 8-speed automatic for fuel economy plus available new rear infotainment technology. The revised 2019 Sedona at the 2018 New York Auto Show is offered in five trims with more safety and technology, will reach dealer showrooms later this year. Suggested pricing will be revealed closer to launch.

Kia has modernized the front end of the Sedona with a more slated aerodynamic windshield plus standard LED headlamps on upper trim levels (SX and SXL). Another refresh is a “tiger nose” mesh-patterned grille and front bumper with chrome surrounds and sportier air intakes. Sedona’s rear also has been slightly revised with combination taillights and chrome on the liftgate.

Powered by a 3.3-liter V-6 that generates 276 horsepower and 248 lb.-ft. of torque, the 2019 Sedona replaces a 6-speed automatic with a smoother, fuel- efficient 8-speed automatic. The new Sedona also comes with more choices of redesigned wheels. For convenience, Kia adds a power sliding door button on handles of EX and higher trims for easier entry/exit. The already-loaded top SXL trim also gets new bumper, skid plate, special LED lighting, fog lights plus 19-in. chrome wheels.

Inside, the 2019 Kia Sedona cabin that seats 7-8 people in rows or lounge configuration, makes a few changes. Kia’s 2019 midsize van features new graphics on the instrument cluster. Wireless charger between seats and USB ports plus an electronic parking brake are standard on upper trims. In the rear passenger area, upgrades include an available rear entertainment system with dual 10.1-in. touchscreens on the backs of front seats instead of an overhead screen plus wireless headphones. Kia also has added an optional Harman Kardon premium audio system with eight speakers.

For family safety, Kia offers a full range of advanced safety and driver assistance systems that has been expanded to also include driver attention warning that monitors driver behavior for fatigue or inattentive driving, alerting the driver of a collision risk and automatically brakes.
