This week, Ram unveiled its new 2019 Ram 1500 Tradesman large pickup, built for commercial use at 2018 Work Truck Show (NTEA) in Indianapolis, IN. Fiat Chrysler Automobile’s (FCA)Ram Tradesman half-ton work truck, identified by black grille and black steel bumpers, is designed for small business, construction and commercial fleet buyers. The retail sticker for a basic smaller cab Tradesman that is now reaching dealerships starts at $33,340 (including $1,645 destination fee).

Built on the all-new Ram 1500 platform, which is is 225 lbs. lighter than its predecessor, the new Tradesman comes standard with a Class III trailer hitch plus lighted 4- and 7-pin trailer wire connectors. Outfitted for work, the 2019 Ram 1500 Tradesman can tow up to 12,750 lbs. and provide up to 2,300 lbs. of payload in a 4-door quad cab configuration. Ram officials claim that all 2019 Ram 1500 variants are equipped with the largest front brakes in the segment at 14.9 inches.

The new work pickup comes with a standard 3.6-liter V-6 with eTorque mild hybrid system or an optional 5.7-liter Hemi V-8. A Hemi V-8 with eTorque will debut later this year. Offered as a 4x2 or 4x4 truck, the new Tradesman comes in two cab styles with two bed lengths: Quad Cab with 6 ft. 4-in. bed and Crew Cab with 5 ft. 7-in. short bed or optional 6 ft. 4-in. bed.

Standard interior features include Ram’s Uconnect 5.0-in screen display, smartphone connectivity, three USB ports, auxiliary power outlet and port, a subscription to SiriusXM Radio, plus automatic headlamps. A choice of vinyl or cloth split bench seating for 6 passengers is available in Black/Diesel Gray with vinyl or carpeted floor.

The new 2019 Ram 1500 Tradesman also comes with a 160-amp alternator, front and rear damping shock absorbers, a 730-amp battery, cargo bed lamp, rear view camera, tilt/telescope steering column, halogen headlamps, locking tailgate, power door locks and windows and a remote keyless entry and theft-deterrent system. Options for the Tradesman include a loaded off-road package with factory suspension lift.
