Ram Unveils 2018 Harvest Edition Pickup Dedicated to Farmers

By Philly Murtha, August 30, 2017
The Ram truck brand this fall is introducing its first large pickup designed for America’s farmers. The 2018 Ram Harvest Edition, available in two special “ag colors” with upgrades, connectivity, and lots of chrome, debuted this week at the Farm Progress Show in Decatur, IL. The Ram Harvest Editions will reach dealerships in the third quarter with an MSRP of $41,305 for the Ram 1500 (including destination charge). Heavy Duty versions will start at $46,235, plus destination fee.

Consumers will have a choice of two colors that can match heavy-duty farm equipment: Case IH Red and New Holland Blue. Bright White, Brilliant Black, and Bright Silver also are offered in monotone and two-tone paint schemes. The Harvest Edition trim level will be available on Ram 1500, Ram 2500, and Ram 3500 large pickups in all 4-door configurations, box lengths, and with a choice of all powertrains from the 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 to the 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel.

Premium exterior treatments include lots of chrome. Trucks shine with a chrome “Wave Mesh” grille, front and rear bumpers, 17-in. chrome wheels on the 1500, and 18-in. polished aluminum wheels on the HD models. Other touches include chrome mirrors and door handles, as well as chrome-tipped dual exhaust. In addition, body-color or bright silver wheel flares complete the look, according to a statement from the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) division.

This farmer’s special truck is loaded with elements that focus on work. Ride height has been raised 1 inch for better ground clearance, and the truck rides on aggressive on-/off-road tires to navigate rough roads, fields, and pastures. Geared for farm life, the truck has black tubular side steps, spray-in bedliner, fold-out bumper step, plus mud flaps, floor mats, skid plates, tow hooks, and available heated seats. A cargo-view camera is added to the 2500 and 3500 models.

Connectivity hasn’t been left out for today’s tech-savvy farmers. The Harvest Edition is equipped with an 8.4-in. touch-screen radio with navigation, 4G Wi-Fi, smartphone connectivity, in addition to access to smartphone map mirroring, weather maps, and forecasts.
