By Philly Murtha, October 02, 2017

The Ram truck brand last week took the wraps off two 2018 special-edition pickup truck treatment packages at the Texas State Fair in Dallas. First, Ram showed off the 2018 Ram Laramie Longhorn Southfork edition trim package that features more luxury appointments and new advanced technology. Additionally, it debuted a 2018 Lone Star Silver Heavy Duty large pickup with a Lone Star badge for the Texas truck market. Both editions will begin production in the third quarter.

The 2018 Ram Laramie Longhorn Southfork treatment, offered on many Ram trucks (1500/2500/3500 4x2 and 4x4 Crew and Mega Cab with long or short beds) is characterized by chrome “Longhorn” tailgate badging and Laramie Longhorn colors, including a two-tone option. A new inside treatment in Canyon Brown and Light Frost Beige features leather seats, wrapped leather pillar grab handles, plus a walnut-trimmed steering wheel.

Interior trim features walnut-colored ash accents and red stitching. A full-featured Uconnect infotainment system includes an 8.4-in. touch screen with full smartphone connectivity and navigation. Suggested MSRPs for the Laramie Longhorn Southfork edition package: $52,615 for the 1500 and $57,015 for the 2500 HD (including destination charges).

Just for the Texas market, Ram also introduced a Heavy Duty Lone Star Silver edition package for Ram 2500/3500 4x2 and 4x4 Crew Cab trucks with a choice of three powertrains including the 6.7-liter Cummins I-6 turbodiesel engine that boasts 930 lb.-ft. of torque. Premium upgrades for this Texas edition include a luxury grille with chrome surround and wave mesh inserts, plus chrome exterior mirrors, side steps, and front tow hooks.

An aluminum Lone Star grille badge identifies this Texas truck that rides on polished 20-in. wheels. The Heavy Duty Lone Star Silver edition truck has a suggested price of $46,130, according to the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles brand. Sporty cloth and vinyl bucket seats can be selected in Canyon Brown and Light Frost Beige or Black and Diesel Gray.
