Nissan Lowers Price on 2014 370Z Sports Car

By Jeff Youngs, July 29, 2013
On Friday, Nissan announced more competitive pricing on its 2014 370 Z Coupe, Nismo Z and Z Roadster models. The Coupe sticker price has been reduced by $3,130, while the Coupe Touring's MSRP is now $2,550 lower than the 2013 Nissan 370Z model. In addition, pricing for the 2014 370Z Nismo and Roadster models remains unchanged from 2013.

The Nissan "Z" compact premium sporty car has a rich history that began in 1969 and includes racing events such as capturing a victory in the Trans Am Series of races during the 1980s when movie actor Paul Newman drove a 300ZX to the winner's circle at the Lime Rock, Conn. track. The Japanese sports car was first sold as the Nissan Fairlady Z and was later exported to the United States and other markets as the Datsun 240Z.

The newest 2014 Nissan 370Z Coupe is based on a sixth-generation design, which debuted in 2009 and has no major changes from 2013. However, enhancements have been added to the new Nismo variant, including dark gray front and rear fascias, a rear spoiler, and interior additions including a new steering wheel, red accents, and a new tachometer. Powered by a 350-horsepower, 3.7-liter V-6 engine mated with a 6-speed manual transmission, the Nismo Z also features sport-tuned suspension and brakes and 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels.

Through the first half of 2013, U.S. sales of the Nissan 370Z were 3,217 units vs. 4,473 unit sales in the same period a year ago, according to LMC Automotive, J.D. Power's auto forecasting partner. The 370Z is currently the third-best-selling model in its segment. The segment was led in the first half of 2013 by the Audi A5, with sales of 9,503 units, followed by the Mercedes-Benz E-Class with 3,390 unit sales.
