Nissan Extends Midnight Edition Package to Six Car, SUV Models
Nissan plans to offer its Midnight Edition packages across six model lines in its car and SUV lineup—models that account for 75% of the brand’s U.S. sales. Company officials announced the rollout before the 2017 Chicago Auto Show opens to the public this weekend. In addition to making it available on the Maxima SR, Nissan now will offer the visually exciting Midnight Edition package on higher-end trims of two other sedans (Sentra SR and Altima SR) and three SUV models (Rogue, Murano, and Pathfinder SV or Platinum).
Appealing to consumer demand for the blackout treatment on vehicles, Nissan will offer its Midnight Edition package, which will feature black aluminum-alloy wheels, black rear spoiler, black mirror caps, and available special floor mats and additional equipment based on the specific model.
Initially, Nissan offered the Midnight Edition package on the 2016 Maxima SR trim level and the package was so popular that it was ordered for the bulk (85%) of Maxima SR sales, according to the company. First offered exclusively with black exterior paint, the Midnight Edition package has now been broadened to include multiple exterior paint choices: variations of Black, including Super Black and Magnetic Black, plus Gun Metallic, Pearl White, and variations of Red, including Coulis, Cayenne, or Red Alert, depending on the model.
All models with the Midnight Edition package are available at special pricing discounts. If accessories were ordered separately, the cost would be more than $1,300, according to Nissan. The company’s goal is to create a “clear visual identity” package across key models in its lineup, reports a Nissan official.
