New 2013 Chrysler Town & Country S Unveiled in Los Angeles

By Jeff Youngs, November 26, 2012
A new version of the 2013 Chrysler Town & Country is going on sale. The "S" trim designation has added standard equipment and a unique appearance, inside and out.

According to Chrysler, the company "tailored the new Town & Country S for the active and style minded consumers." Saad Chehab, president and CEO - Chrysler Brand, Chrysler Group LLC, said in advance of the Town & Country S model's introduction at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show: "It's more than fitting that we unveil this vehicle in Los Angeles given Town & Country S represents yet another modern take of '313' in the '310.'" For the uninitiated, those would be Detroit and Los Angeles area codes.

The new 2013 Chrysler Town & Country S can be painted in Brilliant Black, Stone White, Billet Silver, or Deep Cherry Red exterior colors. Unique to the S model, a black chrome grille, black-background Chrysler badges, black rear bumper step pad, and 17-inch aluminum wheels with polished faces and black painted pockets are standard equipment. After introduction, the Town & Country S model will also get a darkened headlamp treatment.

Inside, Chrysler equips the Town & Country S with a monotone black interior treatment exclusive to this model. Black Torino leather seats with cloth seat inserts are standard, with the "S" logo embroidered on the front seatbacks. Exposed gray stitching, Piano Black dashboard and steering wheel trim, and a black headliner help to set this version of the Town & Country apart from other models.

Standard equipment includes a 283-horsepower, 3.6-liter V-6 engine, 6-speed automatic transmission, and a performance-tuned suspension. A new-for-2013 Blu-Ray DVD player with HDMI inputs and dual USB ports is also standard, and includes a 12-volt power outlet, 115-volt two-pronged power outlet, and new higher-definition viewing screens with wireless headsets.

The Town & Country S is also equipped with safety features including a reversing camera, rain-sensing wipers, blind-spot monitoring system, rear cross-path detection system, and auto-dimming headlights.
