Mini Premieres Two Distinctive Cars at 2016 New York Auto Show
Mini will preview two new variants at the 2016 New York International Auto Show this week to entice the British car’s enthusiasts in the United States. The new Mini Clubman All4 version is the first Clubman with all-wheel drive (AWD) and will offer extra stability and traction for all types of road terrain, according to Mini officials. In addition, Mini will show off its fastest, most powerful soft-top compact car that seats four—the new 2017 Mini John Cooper Works Convertible.
The new Clubman All4 distributes power to all four wheels with “classic Mini go-kart handling,” according to the automaker. The new model platform is lighter and more compact than previous AWD platforms for improved handling and fuel economy, Mini says. The All4 version will be available on the base-level Cooper Clubman as well as the Cooper S Clubman, powered by a 2.0-liter turbo that produces 189 horsepower when matched with an 8-speed automatic transmission and paddle shifters for extra fun.
The new 4-seat John Cooper Works Convertible Mini that will be displayed at the show is the most energetic car in the brand’s lineup, with a 2.0-liter engine that produces 228 horsepower. The new 2017 John Cooper Works variant of the Cooper Convertible features engine and suspension technology developed by parent firm BMW Group.
