Lexus LF-CC Concept Coupe Previews New Lexus Hybrid Drive Technology in Paris

By Jeff Youngs, September 18, 2012
Lexus has revealed a new midsize luxury coupe concept that it will showcase at the 2012 Paris Motor Show at the end of September. The Lexus LF-CC Concept features what the automaker calls a refinement to its L-finesse design language, one that the company says will inform future models, including a new midsize 2-door that Lexus confirmed it will soon build.

Design highlights include a new signature spindle grille treatment, LED projector beam headlights, L-shaped 3-D-effect taillights, and a third brake light mounted to the car's shark fin antenna. The Lexus LF-CC is painted in a color the company calls Fluid Titanium.

Additionally, the Lexus LF-CC Concept employs a new interior design aesthetic that places displays and controls in a Display Zone and an Operation Zone. Amber-colored leather and metallic surfaces are featured throughout the LF-CC Concept's cabin.

The Lexus LF-CC Concept also introduces a new Lexus Hybrid Drive powertrain, one that combines an Atkinson-cycle, 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine with an electric motor and a Lithium-ion battery pack. Lexus says the LF-CC's new powertrain will generate 2 horsepower for every gram of carbon dioxide it emits, and the company is targeting an emissions rating of less than 100g/km. The implication is a combined power rating just less than 200 horsepower.
