Land Rover Introduces Ultra-Lux, Ultra-Fast (and Ultra-Expensive) 2019 Range Rover SV Coupe

By Liz Kim, March 06, 2018
Saudi royals and Russian oligarchs, rejoice! Rather than tooling around in the same old Range Rover that every Tom, Dick and Harry owns, you can now own the Range Rover SV Coupe, which debuted today at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show.

How is it different? For one thing, its starting price is $295,000. For the extra coin, you’ll get a 2-door Range Rover boasting exclusive exterior panels, which will be built by hand in Warwickshire, U.K. Additionally, the SV Coupe gets bespoke badges, a two-piece grille, and side vents composed of real metal.

You’ll start with 21-inch wheels, but options up to 23 inches in diameter exist. You’ll almost be required to consult with the designers to choose between 28 combinations of exterior colors, including a Liquescence option that looks like liquid metal. This version of the Range Rover also features frameless windows and power-closing doors, along with a panoramic roof, all the better to examine every little detail of the interior.

And oh, what an interior it is. This four-passenger vehicle offers your choice of eight different colors of semi-aniline leather, quilted in a diamond pattern like a Chanel boy bag, along with three unique woods to complement the tone of the interior. Or, if you wish to simplify your purchase, you can opt for one of seven specially curated design packages.

Slip into the driver’s seat and you’ll face legions of screens. Two 10-inch screens dominate the center stack, instrumentation is displayed on a 12.3-inch display immediately in front of the driver, and a 10-inch head-up display is present so that you won’t need to reference all of the other screens so frequently.

You’ll also enjoy 20-way power adjustment for the front seats, while rear passengers must make do with 10-way power adjustment for their individual chairs. This isn’t really a vehicle in which to be chauffeured about, in any case. Who wants to crawl into the rear?

No, the Land Rover Range Rover SV Coupe is for the insanely wealthy driving enthusiast who will enjoy every one of the 557 horsepower that emanates from the supercharged 5.0-liter V8, which launches the SUV from a standstill to 60 mph in five seconds. An 8-speed automatic sends the juice to the full-time 4-wheel-drive system, and this powertrain can tow up to 7,716 lbs.

The SV Coupe embraces its off-road heritage with a 2-speed transfer case and Active Locking Rear Differential, along with an air suspension that allows the vehicle to squat down low at freeway speeds and for easy entry and exit in the valet line, and to raise 2.95 inches to traverse unpaved paths when traveling under 31 mph. Rivers? You can splash on through, thanks to nearly three feet of water fording capability.

The only option mentioned by Land Rover is a Care Package that includes five year’s worth of service and maintenance. It’s really a terrific value, so get out there and grab one of the 999 examples available, you hear?
