Jaguar to Unveil F-Type Coupe at Upcoming L.A. Auto Show

By Philly Murtha,
British auto brand Jaguar, which is part of Jaguar Land Rover and is owned by India's Tata Motors, will take the wraps off the new coupe version of its F-Type compact premium sporty car this month (November 20) on the floor of the Los Angeles Auto Show. The new coupe model, which will go on sale next spring, also will debut at this month's Tokyo Motor Show the same day.

The all-aluminum F-Type Coupe will incorporate elements of the Jaguar C-X16 concept car as well as the current 2014 F-Type Convertible, which was honored as the 2013 "World Car Design of the Year." The new coupe will sport a fixed roof with a large glass panel and appears to have some of the flavor of Jaguar's E-Type sports car that was such a hit in the 1960s, according to several media reports. Jaguar states that the reveal will be streamed live online at Jaguar LA live broadcast. Full specs for the new model will be available November 19 at and

The 2014 Jaguar F-Type Convertible reached U.S. dealer showrooms in May of this year. The convertible is offered in three versions: two with supercharged, 3.0-liter V-6 engines that produce 340 horsepower and 332 lb.-ft. of torque; and a top-of-the-line model equipped with a supercharged, 5.0-liter V-8 engine that generates 495 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque.

Pricing for the new F-Type ranges from $69,000 to $92,000 (MSRP). To date, 1,839 F-Type roadsters have been sold in 2013. In October, Jaguar sold 353 units overall, up from 168 in September 2013, according to J.D. Power's forecasting partner LMC Automotive, which tracks automaker sales reports. Through the first 10 months of 2013, Jaguar has posted a 36% sales increase from 2012.
