By Jeff Youngs, September 06, 2012
Honda has announced full details for the redesigned 2013 Accord lineup, which includes 2-door coupe, 4-door sedan, and plug-in hybrid sedan variants. Key highlights of the new Accord include a new 4-cylinder engine rated by the EPA to get as much as 36 mpg on the highway with the optional continuously variable transmission (CVT), additional standard features, new safety technologies, and additional interior and trunk space.

The sections that follow summarize the changes for 2013.

2013 Honda Accord Coupe

Offered in LX-S, EX, EX-L and EX-L V6 trim levels, the redesigned 2013 Accord Coupe is equipped with a choice between a 185-horsepower, 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine or a 278-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6 engine. Bluetooth calling and music streaming is standard, and every Accord Coupe is equipped with SMS text messaging capability and Pandora Internet radio.

2013 Honda Accord Sedan
The new 2013 Accord Sedan features the same engines and standard connectivity technologies as the Coupe, but is sold in LX, Sport, EX, EX-L, EX-L V6 and Touring trim levels. The Sport model features a strut tower brace, 18-inch wheels with lower profile tires, fog lights, rear spoiler, and paddle shifters with the optional CVT. The Touring model is equipped with LED headlights and every feature offered on the new Accord.

2014 Honda Accord Plug-in Sedan

Early in the 2013 calendar year, the new 2014 Honda Accord Plug-in Sedan goes on sale. It is based on the Accord Touring Sedan, and features a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine, an electric motor, and a Lithium-ion battery pack. Combined, the system generates 196 horsepower and the Accord Plug-in Sedan can travel up to 15 miles on electricity alone, according to Honda. The Accord Plug-in Hybrid recharges in 3 hours using a standard 120-volt power outlet, the company says.

The redesigned Honda Accord Sedan rolls into dealerships on September 19, 2012, followed by the Accord Coupe on October 15, according to a company statement.
