GMC Aims to Take Sport Trucks to a New Level with 2015 Sierra Elevation Edition
By Jeff Youngs, September 19, 2014
According to GMC, the 2015 Sierra Elevation Edition, which will go on sale later this year, will bring an unprecedented level of style and content to the sport truck segment. The 2015 Sierra Elevation Edition will be based on the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 double-cab pickup truck and will feature a body-colored grille surround, plus color-keyed door handles, mirror caps, side moldings and front and rear bumpers, all designed to give the Elevation a sporty monochromatic appearance. Elevation models will also feature premium headlamps with distinctive LED lighting, fog lamps, and black-painted 20-in. aluminum-alloy wheels.
"Much in the same way the Sierra Denali and Sierra HD Denali models raised the standard for premium pickup trucks, the Sierra Elevation Edition will surprise and excite customers shopping for a sport pickup," said Duncan Aldred, U.S. vice president, Buick and GMC. "With its striking looks, sophisticated connectivity features and legendary capability, the Elevation Edition raises the standard of what a sport pickup truck can be."
All Sierra Elevation Edition models will feature remote keyless entry, power mirrors, a 110-volt AC power outlet, and LED cargo box lighting. Standard communications features include a 4.2-in. Intellilink color touch-screen audio system and Bluetooth phone connectivity. Elevation Edition models also feature OnStar with 4G LTE connectivity, which provides an in-vehicle Wi-Fi hotspot for up to seven devices.
The 2015 Sierra Elevation Edition is offered with 2- or 4-wheel drive. The standard power plant is a 4.3-liter V-6 engine that delivers 285 horsepower, 305 lb.-ft. of torque, and EPA highway ratings up to 24 mpg. A 355-horsepower, 5.3-liter V-8 engine is optional.
Pricing for the new 2015 GMC Sierra Elevation Edition will be announced closer to the truck's arrival in U.S. dealerships, due by the end of 2014.
