Ford Unveils Sleeker Mustang Convertible with More Technology

By Philly Murtha, January 23, 2017
Ford last week took the wraps off its new, more athletic 2018 Ford Mustang convertible. The new Mustang droptop is packed with improved performance, handling, and advanced technology and will be exhibited at more than 50 regional auto shows before it reaches U.S. dealer showrooms in the fall. The new 2018 Mustang coupe was recently unveiled to media.

The soft-top Mustang has the more aggressive and aerodynamic front and rear end design of the coupe. It is available in three new colors and can be personalized with 12 different wheel choices, plus it is offered with a 12-in. digital instrument cluster with a memory function that can be customized for the driver, according to Ford officials.

As with the coupe, more powerful engines are available for the Mustang convertible, with a tuned-up, 2.3-liter EcoBoost 4-cylinder engine and upgrades for the 5.0-liter V-8s with an all-new 10-speed automatic transmission. In addition, MagneRide suspension technology is available for optimum performance and handling. Advanced driver-assist systems that include pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection is optional.
