By Philly Murtha, January 15, 2018

Chevrolet, General Motors’ flagship bow-tie brand, announced this week that consumers finally can place orders for the 2018 Camaro Hot Wheels 50th Anniversary Edition midsize sporty car on Feb. 1 at Chevrolet dealerships. Hot Wheels is a brand of die-cast tiny toy cars introduced by Mattel in 1968 that have become favorites with collectors.

After Chevrolet and Mattel introduced the Camaro Hot Wheels 50th Anniversary Edition full-size model last October and showed it at January’s 2018 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, the brand has been inundated with passionate fans’ queries, according to Camaro’s marketing manager Todd Christensen, who said the Hot Wheels Edition is actually hitting the streets soon along with the Camaro Redline Edition, Camaro ZL1 and 1LE.

The $4,995 commemorative package includes a Crush exterior color, stripes that are similar to the toy’s orange tracks and is available on the Camaro 2LT and 2SS coupe and convertible models, with suggested starting prices of $31,500.

Also included in the treatment package are: satin graphite stripes with silver ice metallic accents and ground effects. The Anniversary model rides on 20-in. forged aluminum wheels in satin graphite. Anniversary edition Hot Wheels fender badges, a unique grille with chrome inserts, orange brake calipers, dark tail lights and Hot Wheels emblem and black Chevrolet bowtie emblems are also featured.

Inside, the Hot Wheels 50th Anniversary Camaro is appointed in jet black leather with orange inserts and stitching. Orange door pads and seat belts and embossed front seat headrests are part of the package. Hot Wheels badging on steering wheel and doorsill plates also differentiates this Edition along with premium carpet floor mats that have orange stitching.

Historically, the Hot Wheels Custom Camaro toy car was one of Mattel’s first releases in 1968. Offered in in 20 color combinations, the first 1968 Hot Wheels Camaro was White Enamel and is now valued at about $2,500 because it is extremely rare.
