Chevrolet will add bold bling to its lineup with a 2018 Tahoe Custom Midnight Edition large SUV variant that features black appearance elements and extra cargo space. The new all-black painted Tahoe Custom Midnight Edition, available in dealer showrooms this spring, has a suggested starting sticker price of $47,290 (including destination fee).

General Motors’ flagship brand’s newest Tahoe Custom Midnight body-on-frame variant, based on the basic LS trim level is available in 2-wheel drive (2WD) or 4-wheel drive (4WD). The full-size SUV’s power comes from a standard 5.3-liter V-8 engine that produces 355 horsepower so it can tow as much as 6,600 lbs. and average an EPA-estimated 23 mpg on the highway.

The Tahoe Custom Midnight Edition’s all-black appearance package also includes 18-in.-painted black wheels outfitted with off-road capable Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires. Other styling elements are a black grille, durable off-road steps and black bowtie badging. For extra storage room, this variant’s third-row seat can be removed to provide 54 cu ft. of space behind the second seat. A full 112 cu. ft. of room is available when second- and third-row seating are folded flat.

Technology has been enhanced in the Tahoe Custom Midnight large SUV variant with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto interconnectivity and Wi-Fi hot-spot capability plus an 8-in. color touchscreen radio. Multiple USB ports and power outlets (10 available altogether) can support electronic devices.

Other standard advanced assistance features include a rear vision camera, remote start and teen driver mode system. Also optional is an Enhanced Driver Alert Package with forward collision avoidance, safety alert seat, intelligent lighting systems, lane keep assist and lane departure warning and low speed automatic braking. Chevrolet claims that the popularity of its large SUVs has helped it sustain the best-selling large or full-size SUV brand sales title for 43 straight years (with Tahoe and Suburban full-size utilities).
