Chevrolet to Offer "Black-Out" Impala Midnight Edition This Summer
By Philly Murtha, April 30, 2015
Chevrolet has announced that it will begin offering this summer a special "black-out" package for its 2015 and 2016 Impala. The special Midnight Edition package debuted initially at the 2014 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, but will now be offered on production Impalas.
Designed to give Chevy's darkest Jet Black Impala sedan a "more dramatic, sinister look," as described by a company spokesperson, the Midnight Edition Impala features body-color mirrors, 19-in. aluminum wheels with black accents, black grille and grille surround, black Chevrolet bowtie emblems, and a black rear spoiler. Special sport pedals and Jet Black interior are also part of the package.
The Midnight Edition "black out" package will be available on 1LT, 2LT, and LTZ trim levels of the 2016 Impala. In addition, a few 2015 2LT Impalas with standard 4-cylinder engines will also be outfitted with the package, which will range in price from $995 to $1,595 over the standard retail sticker. Customers can also select a 3.5-liter V-6 engine that produces 305 horsepower.
Chevrolet's Impala is the second-best-selling large sedan in the U.S. market, according to sales data tracked by J.D. Power and LMC Automotive. Through the first quarter of 2015, Impala sales declined to 16,332 units from 22,763 units in the same period a year ago.
